Levi World Cup 15–16 November and FIS Ruka Nordic 28–30 November 2025 – Tips for Smooth Travel
The northern winter season kicks off in November with the Levi World Cup on 15–16 November 2025 in Kittilä, and continues with the FIS Nordic World Cup in Ruka on 28–30 November 2025, and the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup Opening in Ruka, Kuusamo in December. These events increase passenger volumes and the number of special baggage items on flights, so we’ve compiled practical tips to make your journey smoother.
Check-in and arrival at the airport
You can check in in advance via our website, Finnair app, or selected hotels in the Levi area. You can print your bag tag at self-service kiosks at the airport. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 2.5 hours before departure to allow time for potential queues and handling of special baggage.
You can also check in and print your boarding pass and bag tag at the following hotels in the Levi area:
- Levi Hotel Spa/Design Hotel Levi
- Hotel Hullu Poro
- Hotel Levi Panorama
- Sokos Hotel Levi
- Lapland Hotel Sirkantähti
Special baggage with additional fees
Ski boots, skis, and other special baggage are subject to additional fees, even if they are your only checked baggage. To ensure a smooth journey, we recommend declaring and paying for special baggage in advance on Finnair’s website, where the price is lower and airport procedures are faster. You may also pay for special baggage at check-in, but the fee will be higher. More information and pricing for special baggage can be found here.
Baggage policies for connecting flights
Payment and through-checking policies vary depending on the operating airline of your connecting flight.
- If your connecting flight is operated by Finnair:
- You can pay for your special baggage in advance via Finnair’s website or app.
- Your baggage will be automatically checked through to your final destination.
- If your connecting flight is operated by another airline:
- Special baggage fees can only be paid at the check-in desk at Kittilä or Kuusamo airports.
- If payment cannot be processed for the entire route, you must collect your baggage in Helsinki and re-check it with the connecting airline, including payment.
Cabin baggage
Please note that the total weight of all your cabin baggage must not exceed 8 kg. If you are carrying a ski helmet in your cabin baggage, please place it under the seat in front of you. Overhead bins are reserved for larger cabin baggage and outerwear. We also recommend packing the most essential items, like medicines, in your carry-on baggage, following your carry-on baggage allowance.
Travelling with restricted items
Some ski waxes and maintenance products may contain substances that are not allowed on aircraft. Always check the contents of your products and review transport guidelines to ensure all items are permitted for air travel.
Also remember that power banks must be carried in cabin baggage – they are not allowed in checked baggage.
More information on prohibited and restricted items can be found here.
If your baggage is delayed
- If your baggage does not arrive at your destination with you, please file a report in our online service as soon as possible.
- Fill in both your own and your hotel’s contact details carefully and include the country code in your phone number so we can reach you for delivery.
- Please also inform the hotel reception that you are expecting delayed baggage. Bags can be delivered to hotels around the clock, depending on the hotel’s reception policies.
