DOT operates some Finnish and regional flights until DEC 19

12 March 2019

Due to temporal lack of aircraft, Finnair leases an ATR aircraft and crew from DOT, a Lithuanian subsidiary of Danish Air Transport. The leased aircraft will operate some of our Finnish and regional routes from Apr 15 to Dec 19, 2019, if necessary. During that time all cabins of Norra’s ATR feet will be renewed.

The cockpit and cabin crew come from DOT. Finnair service concept is followed.

If you have a booking on any of the flights affected, we’ll do our best to inform you about the changed aircraft by text message. Please check from Manage booking that we have your current contact information. Please note that the change may also happen with a short notice.

IBERIA OPERATES MADRID FLIGHTS APR 1, 2019 – MAR 30, 2020

7 March 2019

We have leased an Airbus A321 aircraft from our oneworld partner Iberia for our Madrid route from Apr 1, 2019 to Mar 30, 2020. The Iberia aircraft covers a temporary shortage of aircraft as our operations continue to grow.

With the leased aircraft, the flight deck crew comes from Iberia, while the cabin crew is Finnair’s. However, during the first operating month of the lease, the flights will be operated with Iberia’s cabin crew, and there will be one Finnair crew member on board to support the delivery of Finnair's customer service concept. The crew serves customers in English and in Spanish.

Finnair’s service concept is followed on the flights.

When buying tickets through finnair.com, the operating airline is shown on the ‘Select Flights’ page. If you already have a booking for our Madrid flights between Apr 1, 2019 and Mar 30, 2020, we’ll inform you about the changed aircraft via SMS and/or e-mail. Please go to Manage booking on our website or Finnair App and check that we have your current contact information.

Due to closed airspace of Pakistan some Finnair flights are disrupted

Due to airspace closure of Pakistan, some Finnair flights are unfortunately disrupted. Until further notice, on flights between Helsinki and India, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore there may be delays due to longer flight routes and possible fueling stops.

The airspace closure does not affect our flights to/from China and Japan.

We are following the situation closely and will update any new information on this page. We do our best to minimize the effects to our customers.

Danish DAT operates some Finnish and regional flights until Mar 7

Due to temporal lack of aircraft, Finnair leases an ATR aircraft and crew from a Danish airline DAT. The leased aircraft will operate some of our Finnish and regional routes until Mar 7, if necessary.

The cockpit and cabin crew come from DAT. Finnair service concept is followed in the flights operated by DAT.

Finnair leases extra capacity temporarily from DOT

Wideroe will operate some Finnair flights to Berlin and Vienna from 15 December 2018 to 30 March 2019

9 October 2018

Due to changes in maintenance schedules, Finnair will use an aircraft and crew leased from a Norwegian company Wideroe between 15 December 2018 and 30 March 2019. The aircraft will operate some flights to/from Berlin and Vienna.

The aircraft is Embraer 190. English speaking crew comes from Wideroe. The service concept is Finnair’s service concept.

The flight schedules remain the same, and the lease does not require any action from the customers.

When you buy tickets through finnair.com, the operating airline is shown on the ‘Select Flights’ page. If you have already made a booking on any of the flights affected, we will inform you about the change in operating aircraft in Pre-departure emails. Please check from Manage booking that we have your current contact information.

Due to the change in flight operator:

  • you can change your flight to a Finnair/Norra operated flight +/- 2 days of your original travel date according to seat availability.
  • you can be rerouted on other oneworld carriers according to seat availability.
  • you are entitled to a ticket refund if you choose not to travel.
