Changes in traffic and parking arrangements at Helsinki Airport

Apr 11, 2019

Helsinki Airport is being renovated to offer you an even smoother travel experience in the future. During the construction work, there are changes in the airport’s traffic and parking arrangements.

  • The taxi station that currently serves customers in front of Terminal 2 on the arrivals level will move to the ground floor of the terminal on 15 April 2019. To get to the new taxi station, customers can take the escalators or an elevator in the Arrivals hall 2A near Burger King restaurant.
  • The bus station will be in front of Scandic hotel from 15 May 2019 on. Bus driving routes will also change: the route to the new bus station will go through Teletie and Lentäjäntie.
  • If you arrive at the airport by taxi or are dropping someone off at the terminal, from 23 May 2019 on, the right place for this at Terminal 2 is on the arrivals level. Until then the spot is in front of the terminal on the departures level. Please note that you can stop only briefly in front of the terminal to avoid congestion. If you wish to accompany someone into the terminal or pick someone up, please use the short-term parking area in P3.
  • Parking halls P1 and P2 are closed. You can use parking halls P3 and P5 and outside parking area P4. Short-term and premium parking will be in P3.

Please allow extra time when arriving at the airport. We apologize for any inconvenience. The renewal will be completed in 2022. Find out more at Finavia’s website.

Due to closed airspace of Pakistan some Finnair flights are disrupted

Feb 27 2019, last update Apr 18 2019

Due to airspace closure of Pakistan, some Finnair flights are unfortunately disrupted. On flights between Helsinki and Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore there may be delays due to longer flight routes and possible fueling stops. The timetables of flights between Helsinki and Delhi during the month of May have also been changed in order to avoid flight delays. Affected customers will be contacted directly by Finnair’s customer service.

The airspace closure does not affect our flights to/from China and Japan.

We are following the situation closely and will update any new information on this page. We do our best to minimize the effects to our customers.

You can check up to date flight information here.

If you miss your connecting flight due to a delayed first flight, we’ll re-route you to your destination. As availability of alternative flights is limited, re-routing may take time. Thank you for your patience! After we’ve re-routed your journey, you can find your updated travel plan via Manage booking. If you wish to make changes to your re-routing, we kindly ask you to contact our customer service.

We are at your service also on Twitter @FinnairHelps, in our Facebook pages and via chat on finnair.com.

IBERIA OPERATES MADRID FLIGHTS APR 1, 2019 – MAR 30, 2020

7 March 2019

We have leased an Airbus A321 aircraft from our oneworld partner Iberia for our Madrid route from Apr 1, 2019 to Mar 30, 2020. The Iberia aircraft covers a temporary shortage of aircraft as our operations continue to grow.

With the leased aircraft, the flight deck crew comes from Iberia, while the cabin crew is Finnair’s. However, during the first operating month of the lease, the flights will be operated with Iberia’s cabin crew, and there will be one Finnair crew member on board to support the delivery of Finnair's customer service concept. The crew serves customers in English and in Spanish.

Finnair’s service concept is followed on the flights.

When buying tickets through finnair.com, the operating airline is shown on the ‘Select Flights’ page. If you already have a booking for our Madrid flights between Apr 1, 2019 and Mar 30, 2020, we’ll inform you about the changed aircraft via SMS and/or e-mail. Please go to Manage booking on our website or Finnair App and check that we have your current contact information.
