Historic centre – Catania’s UNESCO‑listed old town is built from dark, volcanic stone. Wander along the main street, Via Etnea, and admire baroque buildings, churches and lively piazzas shaped by centuries of eruptions and earthquakes.

Piazza del Duomo – Catania’s main square, where you’ll find the Fontana dell’Elefante, a lava‑stone elephant statue and one of the city’s most recognisable symbols.

La Pescheria (fish market) – one of Sicily’s most famous markets and a top attraction in Catania. Experience the sounds and flavours of local life.

Roman theatre – discover Catania’s ancient past at these well-preserved Roman ruins hidden among modern buildings.

Mount Etna – Europe’s highest active volcano and Sicily’s most visited natural attraction. Take a guided tour, a cable car ride or a hike to explore lava fields, craters and panoramic viewpoints. In winter, Etna offers skiing with views of the sea.

Taormina – one of Sicily’s most famous towns, known for its elegant streets and the spectacular Ancient Greek Theatre overlooking the sea and Mount Etna. A popular and easy day trip from Catania.

Syracuse – a historic city with strong Greek roots. Visit the Archaeological Park of Neapolis and explore the charming island of Ortigia with its baroque buildings and seaside promenades.

Aci Trezza and the Cyclops Coast – small coastal villages north of Catania, famous for dramatic lava rock formations rising from the sea. According to legend, these rocks were thrown by the Cyclops in Homer’s Odyssey.

Winery visits – explore vineyards growing on volcanic soil around Mount Etna. Wine tastings and winery visits offer a chance to sample unique local drinks and enjoy views of the countryside.
