Rail&Fly with Deutsche Bahn and Finnair

We've partnered with Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) to offer you comfortable and cost-effective train travel to and from your flight – all in one booking!

Enjoy seamless connections with Rail&Fly, a partnership between Deutsche Bahn and Finnair, when travelling to and from Germany. Book your Finnair flight with a Deutsche Bahn connection and start your stress-free journey to or from over 5,600 Deutsche Bahn stations.

Combine your flight and train connection

You can combine your international flight with a train connection between any Deutsche Bahn train station and the airport you will depart from or arrive at. All you need to do is:

1. Search for Railway Germany (QYG)

  • Search for 'Railway Germany', 'QYG' or 'Deutsche Bahn' in our booking system and set it as the destination or departure city of your journey.
    • The train segment will be added to your itinerary and the train fare will also be included in your flight price.
    • After clicking 'Search', please view the departure/arrival cities by clicking 'Details and upgrades', choose the route with the city you'll fly to and proceed with the next steps of your booking.
  • Please note that it is not possible to add the train services after you have already made your flight booking.

2. Check in for your flight and train ride

  • Use your Finnair booking reference to check in for your train connection and access your Deutsche Bahn train ticket (Rail Boarding Pass). Your booking reference is in your Finnair confirmation email, along with the link to the Deutsche Bahn check-in page

    • You can check in for your train connection as soon as you receive your Finnair confirmation email, but not earlier than 180 days before the train departure date.
  • Check in for your flight separately on Finnair.com, in the Finnair app or at the airport.

    • Online check-in opens 36 hours before departure (24 hours for flights to/from the United States).
  • Your Rail&Fly ticket can still be used flexibly on the selected day of travel on the selected route without being fixed to a specific train. Please acknowledge that as soon as you have checked in, the day of travel and the route cannot be changed anymore.

3. Download your ticket and prepare for smooth travel

  • When your check-in is completed, you can download your Deutsche Bahn ticket directly from their site. It will also be sent to the email address you provided when booking your journey.
    • Before your trip, print out your train ticket at home or save it as a mobile ticket on your phone.
    • After your flight, head to the train station and hop on your train. Always keep your train ticket with you.
  • When using a train connection before your flight, please select a train that arrives at least 2 hours before the departure of your flight. Visit the Deutsche Bahn website for the train timetables.
  • Please note that Finnair will not rebook your flight if your train connection is scheduled to arrive within 2 hours or less in advance and you miss your flight.

The train ticket is included in the joint flight ticket price and can only be used in conjunction with a Finnair flight.

We recommend you read the passenger information on the Deutsche Bahn page before your journey. The terms & conditions of Deutsche Bahn will apply for the train service.
