How to reach Finnair Plus Platinum

You’ll move up to the Finnair Plus Platinum tier once you have collected 80,000 tier points during your tracking period. Your new Platinum tier membership card will appear in the Finnair app and you can start using the Platinum tier benefits immediately. Your Platinum membership will continue for the rest of your current tracking period plus the next twelve months. Please read the Finnair Plus rules to find out more.

 

Finnair Plus Platinum benefits


Carry-on bag

You can take one complimentary carry-on bag (55cm x 40cm x 23cm / 22in x 16in x 9in) when travelling with an Economy Superlight ticket on Finnair short-haul flights. Superlight tickets normally include only a small bag (40cm x 30cm x 15cm / 16in x 12in x 6in) that is placed under the front seat.

Checked bag

You’re entitled to one extra bag (max. 23kg (50lb)) when travelling on Finnair flights (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair or Norra) and all the flights in one direction of your itinerary are operated by Finnair, regardless of travel class.

You’re entitled to one extra bag (max. 20–23kg (44–50lb) depending on the airline) when travelling on any other oneworld airline except Finnair, regardless of travel class. Please check the possible airline-specific limitations.

Special baggage

You can take one set of golf equipment (clubs and a bag), one ski or snowboard bag or one set of diving equipment (air tanks must be fully emptied) with you free of charge when travelling on Finnair scheduled flights or charter flights (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair of Norra) and all the flights in one direction of your itinerary are operated by Finnair. The benefit is personal.

Check-in

You can use priority check-in for all Finnair flights (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair or Norra) and other oneworld flights, regardless of travel class.

Priority security

You can use the faster priority security lane at security control.

Lounge

When travelling on Finnair flights (AY code on the ticket), you have access to the Finnair Lounges. Finnair Platinum Wing is at your service on the non-Schengen side of Helsinki Airport, and starting from 9 July 2024, you can use Finnair Platinum Corner on our brand new Finnair Lounge on the Schengen side of Helsinki Airport. Please note that you can use our non-Schengen lounge services when your flight departs from the non-Schengen area.

This benefit applies to you and one guest travelling on the same flight. At other airports, the lounge benefit applies only to the lounge printed on your boarding pass and only when travelling on Finnair flights.

All customers travelling on the same booking with a Finnair Plus Platinum member can purchase lounge access to Finnair Business Lounges at Helsinki Airport at a discounted price.* The benefit is not available for group bookings. Please note that in order to get lounge access for the travel companion at a discounted price, the lounge access must be purchased from Finnair digital channels or customer service.

*Finnair Platinum Wing and Finnair Platinum Corner are excluded

You can also access oneworld First Class, Business Class or frequent flyer lounges, regardless of travel class. This benefit applies to you and one guest travelling on the same flight.

Advance seat reservation

You can pre-select a seat through Manage booking for Finnair flights free of charge. This also includes the option of reserving a Comfort seat and seats with extra legroom. You can also reserve Premium seats on flights within Europe that are operated by our renewed A330 or A350 fleet. Please note that you need to be on the Platinum tier at the time of your flight to be able to use your benefit. If your tier at the time of your flight doesn’t include the advanced seat reservation benefit, your seat reservation will be cancelled.

Confirmed seat

You’ll get a confirmed seat in a full Business or Economy Class when you book your flights at least 48 hours before departure. 

Finnair guarantees confirmed seats in scheduled short-haul Business Class booking class J and in scheduled short-haul and long-haul Economy Class booking class Y.

Please note that you can get a confirmed seat only in Economy Class on Doha and Dubai routes.

Benefit is not available on Kajaani, Kokkola/Kemi, Jyväskylä or Joensuu routes. Please note that in exceptional circumstances, this benefit may not be available on some other flights.

Internet access

Complimentary internet connections are available when travelling on Finnair flights with AY code on a ticket.

  • Long-haul flights: you can enjoy complimentary internet access for the entire flight on Finnair flights between Europe and Asia, North America and Dubai.  
  • Short-haul flights: you can use the. Stream package free of charge for 30 minutes* on Finnair flights within Europe that are operated with Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft. Starting from 1 November 2023, we also offer you a complimentary Message package that supports sending text-based messages in WhatsApp, Viber, Kakao Talk, WeChat and iMessage throughout the flight (no pictures, videos or SMS).
  • The Nordic Sky portal is available on all our long-haul flights and Airbus flights in Europe.

* Not available if your flight ticket already includes internet access.

Free drink

You and your travel companion will receive a complementary drink when flying in Finnair Economy Class. Please note that the complementary drink is only available on flights with an onboard menu. Other services apply according to the travel class.

Newspaper

Our wide selection of digital newspapers is available to you free of charge during your flights with an internet connection

Upgrade benefits*

You will get 12 one-way upgrade benefits. You will get the travel class upgrade benefits when you reach the Platinum tier for the first time. These benefits are valid for one year and you will get them again when you renew your Platinum tier after a new 12-month tracking period.

You can choose if you wish to use your upgrade benefits for scheduled Finnair short-haul or long-haul flights. The required number of upgrade benefits will vary between long-haul and short-haul flights and the travel class.

If you wish, you can exchange four upgrade benefits for a two-for-the-price-of-one Classic award flight in Economy Class. With this, you can purchase award flights for two people from the Finnair Plus customer service but pay the Avios cost of an award flight for one person. Two-for-one Classic awards are only available for scheduled one-way flights and round trips operated by Finnair or Norra and must be purchased using Avios only.

Family members' upgrades*

You can upgrade up to three family members from Economy Class to Business Class with your Avios to join you, when you have bought a Business Class ticket. The Avios charge for a long-haul round trip is 40,000 Avios per person, and 11,000 Avios per person for a short-haul round trip.

*Travel class upgrades are available on scheduled Finnair flights (AY-code on the ticket and the flight is operated by Finnair or Norra). Please note that upgrade availability is limited.

You can check the upgrade availability already before booking your flights. Simply look for the Details and upgrades link when searching for the flights, select "Upgrade availability" next to "Flight details" and log in with your Finnair Plus credentials. If you already have a booking, you can check the upgrade availability online.

Avios expiration

Your Avios will not expire during your Platinum membership.

More Avios and tier points

Your multiplier for Finnair flights (marketed and operated by Finnair) is 9. This means the money you spend on Finnair flights and travel extras will be converted to Avios and tier points with the multiplier 9. Find out more about collecting Avios from flights.

In addition you’ll earn 25% more Avios and tier points for American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia flights (AA/BA/IB code on the ticket) and Finnair codeshare flights with the Gold tier point multiplier.

Give-away Gold card

You can give a year-long Finnair Plus Gold membership as a gift to any Finnair Plus member when you reach the Platinum tier for the first time. The benefit is valid for one year. You will get this benefit again when you renew your Platinum tier membership after a new 12-month tracking period. To use the benefit, just log in to your Finnair Plus account at finnairshop.com.

When you gift the Finnair Plus Gold membership to a Finnair Plus Junior, Basic or Silver member, the recipient's 12-month-long Gold membership will start from the date the membership has been gifted. If you gift the Gold membership to a person who is a Finnair Plus Gold member at the time the Gold membership is gifted, the gifted Gold membership will take effect only after the recipient's current tracking period has ended.

You’ll earn 4 upgrades as a milestone reward once you have collected 95,000 tier points.
