Frequently asked questions

What kind of a mask should I wear during the boarding and the flight? Is it mandatory to wear a mask during the whole flight?

As of 25 April, you are no longer required to wear a mask on Finnair flights, unless it is required by the authorities in your destination or origin country. Please check the mask requirements in your origin and destination countries before you travel. You can find a list of countries requiring masks on the Travel updates page.

On flights where masks are mandatory, you are required to wear a mask throughout the flight. You can remove your mask for a limited time when eating or drinking. We ask you to bring your own masks to the flights. Please check the requirements for the specific mask types from the local authorities’ websites.

On all other Finnair flights, masks are voluntary for both crew and customers. You can, of course, choose to wear a mask while flying. FFP2 and FFP3 masks are proven to give excellent protection, even if others around you are not using masks.

It is also good to visit our Safe travel during coronavirus page, where you can find all the relevant information you need.
