Changes in Finnair flights to Asia and Russia

Due to the closure of Russian airspace, Finnair is making changes to its flights to Asian destinations and Russia.

Due to the closure of Russian airspace, we are making changes to our flights to Asian destinations and Russia.

We are using a longer route to Tokyo, Shanghai, Soul, Bangkok, Delhi and Singapore to avoid Russian airspace.

We have cancelled all flights to Russia for the time being. In addition, flights to Hongkong are cancelled until 30 June 2022 and Osaka flights until 29 October 2022.

Safety is always our first priority. We are following the situation closely and will update any new information on this page. We are very sorry for any inconvenience the changes may cause you.

Flights to Tokyo, Shanghai and Seoul

The flight time to Tokyo Narita is approximately 13 hours, and the flights connect smoothly to our European network.

We continue flying from Helsinki to Shanghai and Seoul. Both routes go around the Russian airspace from the south. The flight time is 12-14 hours, depending on the direction. Read more about our flight routes to Asia from Bluewings magazine

It is important to know that on Tokyo and Seoul flights we have less seats than normally for customers due to loading reasons. This means we are forced to cancel some bookings. We do our best to re-route you to other flights, but unfortunately the availability is currently limited. You can see your options below, if your reservation is cancelled. Please note that due to longer flight time we have limited the space for checked baggage on our Tokyo and Seoul flights. We kindly ask you to follow the baggage allowance on your ticket. Limitations impact also seating of the flight. If we are unable to offer you your prepaid seat you can apply refund here. Additionally, we are unfortunately unable to sell you our on-board internet connection in advance as the inflight connectivity will not be working along the Northern route. If you wish, you may still purchase internet connection onboard when we are using the Southern route.

You can check the schedules through the booking engine on our website or in Finnair App.

We have our normal meal service on these flights, and due to the longer travel time, we recommend you also take some snacks with you.

Flights to Bangkok, Singapore and Delhi

We continue flying from Helsinki to Bangkok, Singapore and Delhi. As we avoid using the Russian airspace, your travel time is some hours longer depending on the route and for example the weather conditions.

You can check the schedules here or in Finnair App. Read more about our flight routes to Asia from Bluewings magazine.

We have our normal meal service on these flights, and due to the longer travel time, we recommend you also take some snacks with you.
