Direct flights to Tenerife

Finnair operates direct flights from Helsinki to Tenerife Sur Airport multiple times a week during the winter season. The flight time is about 6 hours and 40–45 minutes. Tenerife Sur Airport is located approximately 63 km from the island’s capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and you can reach the city in around 50 minutes by bus. The popular resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas are also easy to reach from Tenerife Sur Airport airport, with a taxi taking around 15–20 minutes and the bus taking about 40 minutes.

Things to see and do near Tenerife

La Gomera – take a 50-minute ferry from Los Cristianos to explore this tranquil island known for its lush valleys, steep ravines and the UNESCO-listed Garajonay National Park.

El Hierro – hop on a 2.5-hour ferry from Los Cristianos to reach Spain’s southernmost island with dramatic cliffs, volcanic landscapes and excellent diving spots.

La Palma – this green island is known for its Caldera de Taburiente National Park, hiking trails and exceptional stargazing opportunities. You can get there from Los Cristianos by ferry in about 2.5 hours.

Gran Canaria – discover golden beaches, vibrant city life and beautiful mountain villages. To get there, catch a 1-hour and 20-minute ferry from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Agaete. You can also take a ferry to Las Palmas with a slightly longer travel time.

High season – Tenerife is a popular destination year-round, but the peak season typically occurs from December to March and July to August.

Low season – April to June and September to November may be a little quieter.
