Finikoudes Promenade – lined with palm trees and opening onto the Mediterranean, this lively seafront is the heart of Larnaca. The beach beside the promenade invites relaxed swims and unhurried moments by the sea.
Church of Saint Lazarus – one of Cyprus’s most important religious landmarks, dating back to the 9th century. Step inside to admire its ornate iconostasis and feel the sense of history that fills the space.
Larnaca Castle – standing at the edge of the sea, this compact medieval castle has watched over the town for centuries. Today, it offers glimpses into Larnaca’s past, as well as sea views that make a visit especially rewarding.
Larnaca Salt Lake – a serene natural landscape that changes with the seasons. In winter, the lake fills with water, attracting migratory flamingos. In summer, it becomes a vast, shimmering stretch of white salt. You can enjoy peaceful walks along its shores at any time of year.
Hala Sultan Tekke – set on the shores of the Larnaca Salt Lake, this Muslim shrine is surrounded by palm trees and quiet paths. Here, you’ll notice how the calm ambience and beautiful setting shape one of Larnaca’s most atmospheric sights.
Mackenzie Beach – known for its laid-back feel and clear waters, this beach is also famous for its proximity to the airport. Watching planes glide in low over the sea has become part of Mackenzie’s quiet charm.
Sights and activities near Larnaca
Lefkara Village – this charming village is known for its traditional lace and silver crafts as well as its stone houses. Wander the narrow streets, visit small workshops and enjoy a slower pace of village life. It takes around 40 minutes by car or 1.5–2 hours by bus to reach this place from Larnaca.
Choirokoitia – a UNESCO-listed Neolithic settlement offering a fascinating look into Cyprus’s ancient past. Located approximately 30 minutes by car and 40 minutes by bus from Larnaca, Choirokoitia makes for an insightful and scenic day trip.
Troodos Mountains – head inland to discover forested mountains, frescoed churches and small villages. The Troodos region is ideal for hiking, local food experiences or simply enjoying cooler air and expansive views.
Ayia Napa and Cape Greco – these coastal areas are known for dramatic cliffs, sea caves and turquoise waters. Enjoy swimming, snorkelling or coastal walks with wide-open views of the Mediterranean. Both places can be reached from Larnaca in under an hour by car. The bus journey to Ayia Napa takes a little over an hour, from where Cape Greco is about 15 minutes further.
