Collect Avios and tier points from flights | Finnair Russia

Collect Avios and tier points from flights

When you fly with Finnair and our oneworld partners, you'll collect equal amount of both Avios and tier points.

In order to collect Avios from flights, remember to include your Finnair Plus number in the booking or claim your missing Avios after the flight. Please note that you need to be a Finnair Plus member to be able to collect Avios.

Avios and tier points are awarded to your account according to travel date.

The ticket types and booking classes vary depending on the travel class, price, date of booking, ticket's flexibility and conditions of carriage.

Below you can find more detailed information about how many Avios you can collect from your flights with Finnair and our partner airlines.

Unfortunately, the accrual calculator is not available at the moment.

Avios from Finnair flights

As of 9 March 2024, Finnair Plus program is spend-based. This means you can reach tiers and collect loyalty currency, Avios, based on how much money you spend on your flight and travel extra purchases with Finnair.

You can collect Avios from scheduled Finnair flights (flight numbers AY0001–AY2000, AY3101–AY3300 and AY7001–AY7500) depending on your ticket type or booking class and the region where you fly.

Every membership tier has its own multiplier, and as a member, you collect tier points and Avios based on this multiplier when making flight and travel extra purchases with Finnair. In practice, the money you spend on flights and travel extras will be converted to tier points and Avios with the tier-specific multiplier.

If you buy your flight tickets and travel extras in other currency than euro (for example, in USD, GBP or SEK), the total amount of your purchase (excluding taxes, other fees except for possible Extra fee, and other airport and service charges) will be first converted to euros and then multiplied with your tier’s multiplier.

You’ll collect Avios and tier points from the base fare of the flight ticket, the total price of travel extras and the possible surcharge set by the airline. If there is such a surcharge added to the flight ticket, you can find it in the price breakdown of the booking path under the Taxes, fees and charges as Extra fee. Taxes, other fees and airport and service charges are the only parts of the purchase where you will not collect tier points and Avios.

Avios from travel extras

When flying on flights marketed and operated by Finnair, you will collect tier points and Avios from flight tickets and travel extras, such as seats, meals or extra baggage. See all our travel extras.

You start collecting tier points and Avios from travel extras for new bookings made on or after 9 March 2024.

Please note that collecting tier points or Avios from travel extras will not be possible if you purchase them on board the flight or in connection with award flights.

When you book a flight with Finnair, you will collect Avios and tier points for both flight tickets and travel extras. In addition to the base fare of the flight ticket, you will collect Avios and tier points from the possible surcharge set by the airline. If there is such a surcharge included in the flight ticket, you can find it in the price breakdown of the booking path under the Taxes, fees and charges as Extra fee. Taxes, other fees and airport and service charges are deducted from the price. The remaining amount is multiplied by each tier’s own multiplier to get the number of Avios and tier points that you will collect.

Example:

Let’s say you book a flight that costs €500. Of the €500, let’s imagine the taxes, other fees and airport and service charges are €25. This means you would deduct €500 – €25 = €475.

The remaining €475 is multiplied by your tier multiplier like in the table below:

Membership tierMultiplierTotal amount of Avios and tier points for €475
Finnair Plus Basic62,850 tier points and Avios
Finnair Plus Silver73,325 tier points and Avios
Finnair Plus Gold83,800 tier points and Avios
Finnair Plus Platinum94,275 tier points and Avios
Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo104,750 tier points and Avios

The money you spend on Finnair flights and travel extras will be converted to tier points and Avios with the tier-specific multiplier. The multiplier is the same for tier points and Avios, so you will always collect the same amount of tier points and Avios from your purchases with Finnair.

Membership tierMultipliers for tier points and Avios per €1 spent*
Finnair Plus Basic6 tier points and Avios
Finnair Plus Silver7 tier points and Avios
Finnair Plus Gold8 tier points and Avios
Finnair Plus Platinum9 tier points and Avios
Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo10 tier points and Avios

*Excluding taxes, fees (except for possible Extra fee set by the airline), other airport and service charges and travel extra purchases made onboard the flight or in connection with an award flight.

You can also collect Avios and tier points from Finnair codeshare flights operated by our partners (flight numbers AY2501–AY7000). The amount of Avios depends on your ticket type or booking class and the distance flown.

Codeshare flights are flights that are shared between two or more airlines. They have a Finnair flight number but are operated by a partner airline. Read more about codeshare flights in our FAQ.

Flights booked before 9 March 2024

If you booked your flight before 9 March 2024, here’s how collecting Avios from Finnair flights and our oneworld partner flights works.

We look at the initial ticket creation date when awarding Avios and tier points from Finnair flights.

If your Finnair flight ticket (marketed and operated by Finnair) is booked before 9 March 2024 but the flight date is after 9 March, you will collect Avios and tier points based on ticket type or booking class and the region (see the table below).

The same applies to tickets that are changed after 9 March 2024 – if your original Finnair flight ticket is booked before 9 March 2024 and changed after 9 March 2024, you will collect Avios and tier points according to the ticket type or booking class and the region.

Please note if your flight is marketed or operated by a partner airline, including Finnair codeshare flights, and your flight date is on or after 9 March 2024, you will collect Avios and tier points based on the travel class, booking class and distance flown in miles. This means that all tier point and Avios transactions with partner airlines will be based on miles after 9 March 2024.

If you have booked your Finnair flight before 9 March 2024, you will collect loyalty currency and tier points based on the ticket type or booking class and the region. Please also note that you will collect tier points and Avios from travel extras only when you have a new booking made on or after 9 March 2024.

Check the tables below to see how many tier points and Avios you will collect for your Finnair flight when you book it before 9 March 2024, but the flight is flown after 9 March. The old Finnair Plus multipliers still apply in this case: Silver members earn 10% more, Gold members 15% more and Platinum and Platinum Lumo members 25 % more tier points and Avios.

***On selected routes.

Tier point qualification and collecting Avios on flights that are marketed or operated* by a partner airline, including Finnair codeshare flights, are based on the travel class, booking class and distance flown, but the distance flown will be changed from kilometres to miles.

This applies to all flights flown on or after 9 March 2024, as well as when claiming missing tier points and Avios for any flights after 9 March 2024. This means that all tier point and Avios transactions are based on miles starting from 9 March 2024.

*The marketing airline refers to the airline that sells the flight, whereas the operating airline refers to the airline responsible for actually flying the flight.
In addition to Finnair codeshare flights, you can collect tier points and Avios from oneworld partner flights and only Avios on other partners' flights. The carrier code on the ticket must be ‘MARKETING CARRIER’ and the flight operated on an aircraft of the partner. If the partner airline is not part of the oneworld alliance you will collect only Avios, not any tier points.
