Flight and bus connection

Connections to Helsinki Airport from Tampere and Turku 

You can now conveniently combine different modes of transport in the same booking when travelling between Tampere or Turku and Helsinki Airport. Connect to our network from these cities by taking our new bus service starting from only €10 one-way.

Choosing a bus connection on these short routes is a good way of reducing the carbon footprint of travel.

Here is how it works

Booking and check-in

  1. Start booking your trip through our website or mobile app. Remember to choose Tampere bus station (XTP) or Turku bus station (XTZ) as the destination you’re flying from or to. When selecting your flights, you can see the bus connections marked with “Bus Service for Finnair” and a green notification. You can also contact our customer service or your travel agent to book your trip.
  2. We recommend checking in for your flight in advance online or via the Finnair mobile app. Learn more about check-in in advance.

From Tampere or Turku to Helsinki Airport

  1. On the day of departure, hop on the bus at Turku or Tampere bus station. Please show your boarding pass or flight ticket to the driver. If you don’t yet have a ticket, you may also purchase it directly from the bus driver if there are free seats on the bus. The bus will take you to Helsinki Airport in around two hours.
  2. At Helsinki Airport, the bus arrives at the bus station. It is within a short walking distance from the renewed terminal building.
  3. Collect your baggage from the bus and proceed to bag drop. You can use the priority check-in and bag drop services.*
  4. You can use the priority security lane at the security check to get to your departure gate fast and easy.*

From Helsinki Airport to Tampere or Turku

  1. After your flight has landed at Helsinki Airport, follow the exit signs to the baggage hall to collect your baggage. You will receive your bags among the first customers.
  2. Proceed to the airport bus station. It is within a short walking distance from the arrival hall.
  3. Hop on the Finnair signed bus and show your boarding pass or flight ticket to the driver. If you don’t yet have a ticket, you may also purchase it directly from the bus driver if there are free seats on the bus. The bus will take you to Turku or Tampere bus station in approximately two hours.

Starting from 11 November 2023, if you are a Finnair Plus Gold, Platinum or Platinum Lumo member transferring from our flights to a bus connection to Turku or Tampere, you can enjoy a meal at TGM Asian Fusion restaurant in the airport arrivals hall. You can choose from four menu options, and the meal includes an appetizer, main course and drink. The restaurant is open daily from 10 a.m. to midnight. You can get your meal by showing your bus journey’s boarding pass to the restaurant staff. Your eligibility for a meal is shown on your boarding pass. 

Please note that the Finnair Lounge services are not available when you're travelling to Tampere or Turku by bus. Plaza Premium Lounge in the arrival hall of Helsinki Airport has closed its doors on 10 November 2023.

Accessibility

Finnair's bus connections to Turku and Tampere are primarily operated with high-floor buses, which unfortunately cannot accommodate customers in wheelchairs.

If you are using a wheelchair, please inform us at least 48 hours before the departure time, so we can request the bus company to allocate a bus equipped with a wheelchair lift and space for the upcoming journey. The maximum load capacity of the wheelchair lift is 250kg. The bus driver will assist in securing both the wheelchair and the person in the wheelchair safely onto the bus.

Assistance dogs, such as hearing or guide dogs, are welcome on the bus with you at no extra charge.  

* Priority services (priority check-in, bag drop and security) are not included if the bus connection is bought separately from the flight booking, or if it is combined with a codeshare flight operated by Finnair's partner airline. Find out what codeshare flights are.
