Five changes you'll notice in Finnair's all new long haul cabin

Finnair’s new look long haul cabin has been redesigned to make your in-flight experience better than ever. From a revolutionary new seat in Business Class to a sensational menu that puts the very best of Nordic cuisine at its heart, the renewed space is a labor of love and the result of years of collaborative work by teams from across the business. Here are five key changes you’ll notice next time you board a Finnair long haul flight.

The Air Lounge seat

Utilizing a cutting edge 3D contoured shell, the new Air Lounge seat is a Finnair exclusive and found in our gorgeous new Business Class cabin. Built in collaboration with Collins Aerospace, it’s designed to be a piece of Nordic furniture rather than a simple airline seat. It does not recline, rather it offers numerous positions in which you can sit in comfort to either work or relax, as well as the option to lie flat and sleep. Influenced by Japanese culture, where sitting on the floor is more common than in Europe, you can even sit cross legged if you like. The result is a Business Class seat that’s a cut above anything else on the market.

Iittala’s all new tableware

Finnish brand Iittala and renowned designer Harri Koskinen have teamed up to create a brand new tableware range for Finnair’s new Business Class and Premium Economy cabins. The Kuulas line, featuring round plates, glasses, coffee cups and serving dishes, use the best in authentic materials, including ceramics and wood. The aim, says Koskinen, was to create something cozy and homely, as opposed to the more traditional airline sets that feature square chinaware and cluttered trays. What’s more, you can buy these Iittala pieces to take home with you.

A spectacular new menu

Koskinen and Iittala worked closely with the Finnair Kitchen team to ensure their plates and glasses provided the perfect showcase for the new menu which has been designed for the relaunch. All cabins will see new dishes that use the very best Nordic ingredients, while also tapping into cuisine from our key destinations in Asia for inspiration. Expect dishes like braised beef cheek with onion puree and dark truffle sauce and asparagus risotto in Business Class.

A stunning social space

It’s not just about where you sit in the new Finnair long haul cabin. Creating a wow factor was essential for our designers. That’s why there’s a new premium social space and entry area for those flying in Business Class, with darker, muted tones designed to be calming and welcoming when on board. The aim was to make somewhere that felt homely while at 39,000 feet, where you can help yourself to snacks and non alcoholic beverages.

Premium Economy like no other

For the first time, Finnair has launched a Premium Economy cabin. The new seats have been fully customized and offer 38 inches of legroom, as well as 13 inch in-flight entertainment systems and Marimekko textiles. It’s the ideal space for those looking to treat themselves to an upgrade on their first long haul adventure in a while, or workers trying to get the job done ahead of that all important face to face meeting with clients overseas.
