Collect Avios and tier points from flights

2024_08_Finnair_Airport_T2_Couple_Travels_v2_Avios-logo_1920x1080px

Real rewards from your trips

You collect both Avios and tier points every time you fly or buy travel extras, like seats or baggage, from us.

Collect Avios from:
  • Flights with Finnair, oneworld airlines and other partner airlines
  • Finnair travel extras like seats and baggage
  • Services provided by our Finnair Plus partners (e.g. hotel stays and car rentals)
  • Purchases made with Finnair Visa credit cards (available only in Finland)
Collect tier points from:
  • flights with Finnair and our oneworld partners
  • Finnair travel extras like seats and baggage
  • purchases made with Finnair Visa credit cards (available only in Finland)

How to collect Avios and tier points from Finnair flights

You collect Avios and tier points from Finnair flights (AY0001–AY2000 and AY7001–AY7500) based on how much money you spend.

We take into account:

  • the flight’s base fare (excluding most taxes, fees and charges)
  • a possible airline surcharge (‘Extra fee’ in the booking’s price breakdown)
  • the total price of travel extras

You don’t collect Avios or tier points from onboard purchases, award flights or travel extras bought in connection with award flights.

  • You collect Avios and tier points only from your own flights. Even if you pay for your entire family’s tickets, you’ll only collect Avios and tier points from your own ticket.
  • Avios and tier points are added to your account after your flight. Transactions are shown by travel date, not purchase date.
  • Flights and any travel extras are combined into one transaction, so Avios and tier points from travel extras aren’t displayed separately.
  • If you pay in a different currency (such as GBP or SEK), your spend is converted into euros before we calculate your Avios and tier points.

The higher your tier, the more you collect

Your tier at the time of flying affects how many Avios and tier points you collect. Your spend in euros is multiplied by a tier-specific factor. For example, if you’re a Finnair Plus Basic member when you take the flight, your spend is multiplied by 6.

You collect an equal number of Avios and tier points, for example, 650 Avios and 650 tier points.

Membership tierAvios and tier points per €1 spent
Finnair Plus Basic6 Avios and 6 tier points
Finnair Plus Silver7 Avios and 7 tier points
Finnair Plus Gold8 Avios and 8 tier points
Finnair Plus Platinum9 Avios and 9 tier points
Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo10 Avios and 10 tier points

You collect Avios and tier points from Finnair codeshare flights (flight numbers AY2501–AY7000) in the same way as regular Finnair flights – based on how much money you spend.

If you booked your flight before 3 June 2025, you collect Avios and tier points based on your ticket type or booking class and the distance flown (see tables below).

Codeshare flights have a Finnair flight number but are operated by a partner airline. Read more about codeshare flights.

You collect Avios and tier points from Finnair leisure flights and holiday packages organised by a third party based on the table below. You can’t collect Avios and tier points from travel extras bought for these flights.

The table shows Avios and tier point earning per flight in one direction.

Holiday destinationEconomy ClassBusiness Class
Continental Europe and the Mediterranean3301,000
Canary Islands, Madeira and Africa3301,000
North and South America, Asia and the Middle East1,3304,000

If you’re on the Finnair Plus Silver, Gold, Platinum or Platinum Lumo tier, your tier boosts your earning above the rates shown in the table:

  • Silver: +10%
  • Gold: +15%
  • Platinum and Platinum Lumo: +25%

Exception: If you book a flight+hotel package from a tour operator like Aurinkomatkat, you collect Avios and tier points for the flight part of the package (not from the hotel part). Your earning is based on how much money you spend on the flight, as with other Finnair flights.

Finnair leisure flights (AY2001–2500) are flights operated by Finnair to which tour operators sell seats.

Holiday packages are pre-arranged trips organised by a third party but where the flight is operated by Finnair (scheduled Finnair flights AY0001–AY2000 and AY7001–AY7500). These include packages by Aurinkomatkat, Apollomatkat, Tjäreborg, STS Alppimatkat and Toiviomatkat.

You can collect Avios and tier points from Finnair's partner bus services (AY9601– AY9602 and AY9605–AY9606) between Tampere or Turku and Helsinki Airport when booked as a connection for Finnair flights. Your earnings are based on how much you spend on the bus tickets.

If you buy the bus ticket online without a connecting flight or directly from the bus driver, you won’t collect Avios.

Avios and tier points from oneworld flights

You collect Avios and tier points when you fly with any of our oneworld partner airlines. Earnings depend on your travel class, booking class and the distance flown. You collect an equal number of Avios and tier points. If your booking class isn’t listed in the tables below, you can’t collect Avios or tier points from your flight.
