14 new Finnair destinations to fall for in 2026

Still wondering where to travel in summer 2026? We're adding 14 new destinations this year – from sunny spots in Central Europe to arctic nature in Northern Europe. For those with bigger adventures in mind, Toronto joins our network in May, and in October Melbourne becomes our first-ever destination in Australia.

Finnair’s blue and white wings will take you to 12 new European destinations in Norway, Sweden, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Albania, Greece and Estonia, and two new long-haul destinations in Canada and Australia this year. Get to know all our new destinations for 2026, choose your favourite and start packing for your next holiday.

Stavanger, Norway

Stavanger, located on the west coast of Norway, charms you with its cobblestone streets and white wooden houses. This compact city has plenty to see and do, and the surrounding nature offers great options for multiple different nature activities. Try one of Norway’s most famous hikes, the 8-kilomere-long climb to Preikestolen cliff or admire the majestic views from the comfort of a fjord cruise to Lysebotn village. During the winter season, you can also enjoy skiing and downhill skiing nearby.

You can fly to Stavanger from Helsinki with us from 29 March 2026 onwards throughout the year. We fly to Stavanger daily, altogether 9–10 weekly frequencies. Some of the flights fly via Stockholm, Sweden.

Umeå, Sweden

Northern Sweden’s largest city, Umeå, combines vibrant culture with northern nature. Being home to Umeå University and around 30,000+ students, this northern city has a young, international and open-minded culture, while being peaceful and spacious at the same time, the forests and lakes only minutes away. After you’ve explored the local museums, head to the sunny island of Holmö, try birdwatching at the Grössjön nature reserve, or go relax to the nearby sandy beaches.

You can fly to Umeå from Helsinki via Vaasa with us from 29 March 2026 onwards throughout the year. We fly to Umeå 7–10 times a week.

Catania, Italy

Located on the east coast of the island of Sicily, Catania offers its visitors an authentic southern Italian atmosphere. Wander the baroque streets of the historic centre, savour local flavors or browse the lively markets of Piazza Carlo Alberto or A’Piscaria Mercato del Pesce. Make sure to also include a full-day trip to the impressive nearby Etna volcano within your travel plans. In addition, a visit to the village of Taormina, less than an hour away, is also worth it.

You can fly to Catania from Helsinki with us during the summer season 31 March–25 October 2026 three times a week, on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. 

Luxembourg, Luxembourg

Perfectly compact Luxembourg charms with its fairytale castles, medieval old town, completely free public transport, Europe’s most beautiful balcony and nearby vineyards. If you enjoy hiking, the close Ardennes region offers a great setting for hiking adventures. Surprisingly, unlike in other European capitals, you might be able to find affordable accommodation in Luxembourg in July and August, while business travellers are away of the city.

You can fly to Luxembourg from Helsinki with us from 31 March 2026 onwards throughout the year. During the summer season, we offer 2–3 weekly frequencies, while during the winter, we fly to Luxembourg four times a week.

Florence, Italy

You can find art history and Tuscan charm at their best in our new destination, Florence. Home to some of the world’s most stunning art galleries, breathtaking architecture and historic statues, the art capital also serves as a convenient gateway to the picturesque Tuscan countryside, nearby wineries and lovely medieval villages. Rent a car or hop on a train and combine your Florence trip to with some of the intriguing nearby towns, such as Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca or Bologna.

You can fly to Florence from Helsinki with us during the summer season 2 April–18 October 2026. We fly to Florence from two to four times a week.

Valencia, Spain

Our new beach destination in Spain offers a big city feel without huge tourist crowds. From street art to the city’s iconic cultural centre, and from the maze-like old town to one of Europe’s largest market halls, Valencia has a lot to offer. The lively city is also full of cosy cafés – and known as the home of paella. The Albufera Natural Park, a short drive away, offers stunning dune landscapes and traditional Valencian nature.

You can fly to Valencia from Helsinki throughout the year with us from 11 April 2026 onwards. During the summer season, we offer two weekly frequencies, and during the wintertime, you can fly to Valencia with us four times a week.

Alta, Norway

Alta, located on the coast of northern Norway, is the perfect summer destination for those who love northern nature and search for peace. The Alta (Sautso) Canyon is one of the largest in Northern Europe offering breathtaking scenery that you can experience along a 12-kilometre route by hiking, cycling or taking a boat trip along the river. In the town of Alta, you can experience northern magic at the futuristic Northern Lights Church, by admiring the thousands-year-old rock paintings of Hjemmeluft and by heading to the hidden Storvika pebble beach.

You can fly to Alta from Helsinki via Rovaniemi with us during the summer season 29 April–22 October 2026 five times a week.

Tirana, Albania

Tirana, the capital of Albania, is still unknown to many, while it’s one of Europe’s fastest-growing cities, offering a new and affordable travel experience compared to Europe’s more well-known capitals. Wander along the fascinating streets of the capital, hop on the cable car by the nearby Dajti Mountain National Park and hike the trails winding above the city offering stunning views, or head to the beach to relax in the pleasant Mediterranean climate.

You can fly to Tirana from Helsinki with us during the summer season 30 April–4 October 2026 twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays.

Kos, Greece

The compact but popular island of Kos in Greece offers you a holiday full of different things to do. On the island, you’ll find stunning sandy beaches with turquoise waters, picturesque routes winding through olive groves and small villages, a charming old town, ancient buildings, delicious seafood, mountain views and numerous options for water sports and island hopping. This versatile summer destination is perfect for families, couples, and those looking for a more adventurous holiday.

Kos is one of those places that rewards those who know where to look. You can fly to Kos from Helsinki with us during the summer season 2 May–24 October 2026 twice a week on Fridays and Saturdays.

Turin, Italy

Located in the foothills of the majestic Alps in northern Italy, Turin’s surroundings offer its visitors stunning hiking trails in the mountains during the summer and a wide range of winter sports during the winter season. In the peaceful but diverse city of Turin itself, you get to enjoy culture, architecture and excellent Piedmontese cuisine in true Italian style. From the city, you can also head to the Piedmont countryside for some truffle hunting or a winery tour.

You can fly to Turin from Helsinki throughout the year with us from 3 May 2026 onwards. We have three weekly frequencies during the summer season, and 1–2 frequencies during the winter.

Thessaloniki, Greece

Our second new destination in Greece is the country’s second largest city, Thessaloniki. Stated as the gastronomic capital of Greece, you’ll be sure to find plenty of cosy bars, cafes and taverns both in the colourful old town, Ano Polis, as well as the bustling harbour area. The city allows you to get a glimpse of the everyday life of Greeks, while being also known for its vibrant night life. Steeped in history, the city’s landmark is the over 500-year-old White Tower.

You can fly to Thessaloniki from Helsinki with us during the summer season 4 May–24 October 2026 three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Toronto, Canada

Our first new long-haul destination of 2026 is the long-awaited Toronto, where you can combine city life, sports and time in nature within one holiday. Known as one of the most multicultural cities in the world, Toronto comes alive once the summer arrives, inviting you to enjoy its numerous festivals, diverse food scenes and several museums, either on foot or conveniently by the subway. You can fly to Toronto from Helsinki with us during the summer season 4 May–29 August 2026 three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Kuressaare, Estonia

During the summer holiday season, we will offer flights to Kuressaare, the capital of Saaremaa, Estonia’s largest island. This cute little town has a garden-like atmosphere, and it’s the perfect destination for those looking for peace and the rural romance of the past. Travel back in time and buy antiques and flea market finds as souvenirs, as well as local handicrafts and archipelago bread. The Bishop’s Castle from the 14th century presents the history of the place in a fascinating way, while the town has several great spa hotels for total relaxation.

You can fly to Kuressaare from Helsinki with us during the summer season 8 June–7 August 2026 from two to four times a week.

Melbourne, Australia

Our exciting new destination, Melbourne, starting in October, is Finnair’s very first destination in Australia. Known as the cultural capital of Australia, Melbourne offers a diverse café and restaurant culture, colourful street art, plenty of sports, and a short distance to surrounding natural attractions. You can fly to Melbourne from Helsinki via Bangkok with us daily from 25 October 2026 onwards with our Airbus A350 aircraft.

+ Direct flights from Europe to Lapland during the winter season 2026–2027

We will also be offering direct flights between Central Europe and Lapland in the coming winter season, so it’s easier for you to enjoy the magic of Finnish Lapland. We’ll have direct flights twice a week from Brussels and Zurich to Kittilä, and from Paris to Rovaniemi.

In 2026, we fly to a total of 93 European destinations, 11 Asian destinations, seven North American destinations, two Middle Eastern destinations, and one destination in Australia.
