Well-loved Finnish brands come together to celebrate Finnair's 100 anniversary

Finnair and Stockmann are well-known, iconic Finnish brand names, both with a long history. Stockmann invited the 100-year-old Finnair to take over its Helsinki department store, creating memorable experiences for all customers.

The celebratory collaboration between Finnair and Stockmann began with a proposal from Stockmann.

"We initiated the collaboration with Finnair, as we knew their anniversary was approaching. We feel that cooperation between our two brands is very natural. We both want to offer high-quality service and invest in excellent customer experience," starts Riitta Elovaara, Stockmann's Head of Brand & Marketing.

As a result of the collaboration, Finnair will take over the Helsinki downtown department store starting from 9 October. Stockmann describes the department store takeover as a magnificent immersive experience.

"The collaboration can be seen in many ways around the department store. On the store's first floor, you can explore a photo exhibition for the anniversary year, try out business class seats, enjoy the onboard favourite drink blueberry juice, meet cabin crew, and hear the performances by Finnair's choir," Elovaara explains.

The events related to the collaboration are unique and can be experienced in the Stockmann store only during the takeover.

Additionally, private events will be organized for the loyal customers of both companies, as well as for media representatives and influencers.

Desirable anniversary products available

An important part of Finnair's anniversary is the collaboration products created with Finnish brands, which will be available at Stockmann for the duration of the event.

Makia, known for its streetwear, has designed a unisex mini collection for Finnair following a travel theme, including trousers, long-sleeved T-shirts, a vest, a beanie, and an oversized down jacket.

Moomin mug enthusiasts will be delighted by the "Journey" Moomin mug created in collaboration between Finnair and Arabia, featuring illustrations on both sides from Tove Jansson's novel "Moominpappa's Memoirs." The mug will be available in a limited quantity at Stockmann.

The legendary Finnish sports shoe manufacturer Karhu had previously designed work shoes for Finnair employees. A new colour version of the shoe will be available as a limited edition at Stockmann.

"The anniversary products can be purchased from the fashion and home departments on the upper floors," Elovaara mentions.

High expectations from both brands

Both Stockmann and Finnair are very excited about the collaboration and hope that customers actively engage in the experiences.

"Stockmann's customer promise is 'A feeling that lasts.' By creating experiences with other great brands, we want to offer our customers something new and exhilarating. We believe that when created together, the experience becomes even more memorable," Elovaara describes.

For Finnair, the collaboration also provides a rare opportunity to meet customers in real life.

"Since we don't have our brick-and-mortar stores, landing at Stockmann is a fantastic way for us to be seen in a new way," says Lotta Prinssi, Finnair's Brand Development Manager.

Elovaara also reminds us that the collaboration between the 160-year-old department store and the 100-year-old airline is truly special.

"This is a unique collaboration. We warmly welcome all customers to come and experience it in person at the Stockmann department store in downtown Helsinki."
