How to reach Finnair Plus Silver

You can move up to the Finnair Plus Silver tier once you have collected 15,000 tier points during your tracking period.

You’ll enjoy Finnair Plus tier benefits when you are travelling on Finnair flights (AY code on a ticket and flight operated by Finnair or Norra). Please note that you must be on the Finnair Plus Silver tier at the time of your flight to enjoy the Silver tier benefits.

Finnair Plus Silver benefits

Carry-on bag

You can take one complimentary carry-on bag (55cm x 40cm x 23cm / 22in x 16in x 9in) when travelling with an Economy Superlight ticket on Finnair short-haul flights. Superlight tickets normally include only a small bag (40cm x 30cm x 15cm / 16in x 12in x 6in) that is placed under the front seat.

Checked bag

You can purchase a checked bag (max. 23kg (50lb)) with a 50% discount. The discount only applies to purchases made through Finnair digital channels or customer service for Finnair operated and marketed flights. If you have booked your flight before 1 June 2023 and are a Silver member at the time of travel, you are entitled to one extra bag free of charge.

Check-in

You can use priority check-in for all Finnair flights (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair or Norra) and other oneworld flights, regardless of travel class.

Priority security

You can use the faster priority security lane at security control.

Lounge

You can purchase a Lounge Pass to the Finnair Business Lounges at Helsinki Airport at a discounted price for yourself and your travel companions in connection with a Finnair flight (AY code on the ticket and flight operated by Finnair or Norra) using Avios, money or a combination of Avios and money. The discounted price is €30 or 4,800 Avios per person.

All customers travelling on the same booking with a Finnair Plus Silver member can purchase lounge access to Finnair Business Lounges at Helsinki Airport at a discounted price. The benefit is not available for group bookings. Please note that in order to get lounge access for the travel companion at a discounted price, the lounge access must be purchased from Finnair digital channels or customer service.

You must use your Lounge Pass in advance, at least one (1) hour before the scheduled departure of your flight. You can stay in our lounges for a maximum of three (3) hours. Please note that all passengers over 2 years of age require their own Lounge Pass.

Advance seat reservation

You’ll get a 50% discount from advance seat reservations for Finnair flights (excluding Comfort seats and seats with extra legroom). See all the Finnair seat types and select your seat.

Internet access

Starting from 1 November 2023, you can enjoy complimentary internet connection for messaging on Finnair short-haul flights within Europe that are operated with Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft. The Message package supports sending text-based messages in WhatsApp, Viber, Kakao Talk, WeChat and iMessage throughout the flight (no pictures, videos or SMS). Complimentary internet connections are available when travelling on Finnair flights with AY code on a ticket.

More Avios and tier points

Your multiplier for Finnair flights (marketed and operated by Finnair) is 7. This means the money you spend on Finnair flights and travel extras will be converted to Avios and tier points with the multiplier 7. Find out more about collecting Avios from flights.

In addition you’ll earn 10% more Avios and tier points for American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia flights (AA/BA/IB code on the ticket) and Finnair codeshare flights with the Silver tier point multiplier.

You’ll earn 2 lounge passes in Finnair Lounges at Helsinki Airport as a milestone reward once you have collected 20,000 tier points.

oneworld benefits

oneworld’s own tier symbols ensure that you’ll always receive the benefits when you fly with Finnair or other oneworld airlines. The Finnair Plus Silver tier is equivalent to the oneworld Ruby tier – that’s why your Finnair Plus Silver membership card bears the red oneworld Ruby tier symbol.

When you are flying with a oneworld airline, or on Finnair flight and the marketing carrier on a ticket is not AY, you will enjoy the oneworld benefits instead of Finnair Plus benefits.

Maintain your current tier

You’ll maintain your Silver tier membership when you collect 15,000 tier points during your tracking period. If you don’t have enough tier points to renew your Silver membership by the end of your tracking period, you can make up the difference by exchanging some of your Avios for tier points, if you wish.

In case you cannot get enough tier points to maintain a Silver membership, you will become a Basic member again. If this happens, your tier point balance will be reset to zero and a new tracking period will begin.

Get to the next tier

You can move up to the Finnair Plus Gold tier once you have collected 45,000 tier points. Your new Gold tier membership card will then appear in the Finnair app and you can start using the Gold tier benefits immediately. Your Gold membership will continue for the rest of your Silver tracking period plus the next twelve months.
