Transfer Avios between Finnair Plus and British Airways Executive Club

Two loyalty programs, one loyalty currency. Our oneworld partner, British Airways, also uses Avios as their loyalty currency. If you’re a member of both Finnair Plus and British Airways Executive Club, you can link your accounts and transfer Avios between them.

Linking your accounts and transferring Avios between them will be available for Finnair Plus accounts from 22 May 2024.

Linking your accounts allows you to flexibly combine the Avios you’ve collected in both Finnair Plus and British Airways Executive Club. This opens up new opportunities for using your Avios for all kinds of rewards, products and services.

Transfer Avios free of charge

Transferring between your accounts is free of charge and you can do it as often as you wish. What’s more, Avios are worth the same in both programs: 1 Avios in Finnair Plus is 1 Avios in British Airways Executive Club.

Step-by-step guide for linking your accounts

You can start transferring Avios after linking your Finnair Plus and British Airways Executive Club accounts. You must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for linking your accounts.

Follow these steps to link your accounts and start transferring Avios:

  1. Log in to your Finnair Plus account. If you want, you can also follow the steps related to linking your accounts directly on the Balance and transactions page.
  2. Enable two-factor authentication for both accounts. Two-factor authentication makes Avios transfers more secure. You can enable it on the Update profile page of your Finnair Plus account. For a smoother experience, we recommend using an authenticator app for two-factor authentication. Please contact British Airways for instructions on how to enable it for your other account.
  3. Make sure your first name and family name match on both accounts. You don’t need to worry about special characters like hyphens (-), apostrophes (‘) or accented letters (e.g. è, ó, â, ã, ä, å) because the system will automatically adapt to those. If your name is incorrect on your Finnair Plus account, please contact our customer service. If it’s incorrect on your British Airways Executive Club account, please contact British Airways.
  4. Link your accounts. Go to the Balance and transactions page of your Finnair Plus account. Select Link my accounts. You will be directed to British Airways’ website to complete the linking. You will receive a confirmation email when your accounts have been linked successfully.
  5. Start transferring Avios. Select Transfer Avios on the Balance and transactions page of your Finnair Plus account. You will be directed to British Airways’ website to complete the transfer. Avios transfers show up almost instantly in Transaction history.

For security reasons, you may be asked to log in to your Finnair Plus account again when initiating linking or Avios transfers on the British Airways website.

To enable the transfer of Avios between your Finnair Plus and British Airways Executive Club accounts, including any customer service to facilitate and confirm the transfer of Avios, we share data from your Finnair Plus account with your British Airways Executive Club account in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Potential issues when linking your accounts

For security reasons, you need to enable two-factor authentication on both your Finnair Plus and your British Airways Executive Club account before you can link your accounts.

For Finnair Plus, log in to your Finnair Plus account and go to the Update profile page through the left-side menu. Go to the Two-factor authentication section. Follow the instructions given in that section to set up two-factor authentication. 

For British Airways Executive Club, please contact British Airways for instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication.

Did you choose to receive the verification codes for two-factor authentication via text message? If you have an incorrect phone number saved to your Finnair Plus account, you won’t receive any verification codes.

Please check that you’ve saved the correct phone number to your Finnair Plus account. Log in to your account and go to the Update profile page through the left-side menu. Edit the phone number under Personal information. Save the changes.

For a smoother experience, we recommend using an authenticator app for two-factor authentication.

If you have issues with two-factor authentication on British Airways’ side, please contact them for further instructions.

If your first name and family name don’t match on your Finnair Plus and British Airways Executive Club accounts, you will not be able to link your accounts.

Please note that special characters like hyphens (-), apostrophes (‘) and accented letters (e.g. è, ó, â, ã, ä, å) are not a problem when linking your accounts because the system will automatically adapt to those.

No, it doesn’t. Transferring Avios between your Finnair Plus and British Airways Executive Club accounts is free of charge. Avios are worth the same in both programs: 1 Avios in Finnair Plus equals 1 Avios in British Airways Executive Club. You can also transfer your Avios between your accounts as often as you wish. No, you can only transfer Avios between your own Finnair Plus and British Airways Executive Club accounts. However, if you want to transfer Avios to friends or family members within the Finnair Plus program, you can do that in Finnair Shop.

Please note that your name must appear as on your passport. However, you don’t need to worry about special characters like hyphens (-), apostrophes (‘) and accented letters (e.g. è, ó, â, ã, ä, å) because our system automatically adapts to those. For example, Hämäläinen, Haemaelaeinen and Hamalainen are considered the same family name.
