You can reach the city centre in about 15 minutes by metro or train, in 20–30 minutes by taxi or in 35 minutes by bus. However, the journey may take longer during peak hours. Things to see and do near Copenhagen

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art – explore internationally renowned modern art in a scenic coastal setting north of Copenhagen, easily reached by train in an hour.

Roskilde – visit the historic former capital with its UNESCO‑listed cathedral and Viking Ship Museum along the fjord, easily reached by train from Copenhagen in about 30 minutes. In July, you can also attend the Roskilde Festival, the largest music festival in the Nordic countries.

Kronborg Castle – step into the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet at this Renaissance castle in the city of Helsingør, overlooking the Øresund strait. Kronborg Castle is easily reached from Copenhagen in around 45 minutes by train.

Amager Strandpark – enjoy beaches, swimming areas and outdoor spaces just minutes from the city centre. Popular for summer days by the sea.

Malmö, Sweden – cross the Øresund Bridge to experience the neighbouring city, reachable from Copenhagen in under an hour by train.
