New aircraft for our European routes from 2027

Next year, you'll be able to enjoy the comfort of all-new aircraft as we introduce Embraer-E2 aircraft into our European service. The first aircraft will arrive in autumn 2027.

Choosing new aircraft is one of the bigger decisions we make, and your travel experience is central to it. From autumn 2027, Embraer E195-E2 aircraft will join our European fleet, bringing a quieter cabin, more space and a longer range.

More room, the same familiar feel

The aircraft has a quiet and spacious cabin that is in line with Finnair's familiar look. There are two seats side by side, just like in the Embraer at the moment. The aircraft will have 134 customer seats, making it larger than our current Embraer aircraft. A high-speed internet connection and a USB charging port at every seat add to your comfort on board.

In the new aircraft, attention has also been paid to storage space. For example, the overhead bins are deeper, making it easier to stow carryon baggage. There's also a practical everyday detail - three toilets, one more than before.

Flying further than before with Embraer aircraft

The new Embraer aircraft will continue to operate Finnair’s domestic and European routes as before. Their longer range, however, enables flights to all of Finnair’s European destinations, including Portugal, Spain and Greece.

The new aircraft acquisitions support the development of our European route network, with new destinations and additional weekly flights.

The new aircraft type is also significantly more fuel-efficient, producing fewer carbon dioxide emissions per passenger.

We have ordered a total of 18 new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. In addition, we will introduce newer Airbus 320/321ceo aircraft to our fleet to replace our oldest Airbus narrow-body aircraft. Together, these changes support our growing European network and improve the travel experience, especially on short and medium-haul flights.

Careful preparation before the first flight

Bringing a new aircraft type into service is a multi-stage process that is carefully prepared well in advance of the first flight. A wide range of experts e involved, from cabin design and flight crew training to technical preparation and refinement of operational operating models. This ensures the new aircraft type enters service smoothly and safely. You can follow the arrival preparations and deployment progress of the new aircraft in Finnair's channels along the way.
