What you need to know about DB Rail & Fly

Together with the German railway company DB, Finnair is now offering a possibility of travelling conveniently by airplane and train. First you can fly to one of our seven destinations; Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, Munich and Stuttgart – and continue your voyage by train from there to over 5,600 different destinations in Germany.
Please read the passenger information at www.bahn.de/railandfly carefully before your journey. The terms & conditions of DB will apply for the train service.
To purchase a DB train ticket as part of a Finnair flight ticket, choose “Railway Germany (QYG)” in the drop-down menu for departure or arrival point. The train segment will be included in your itinerary. It is not possible to add train segments afterwards.
There are two ways of obtaining your train ticket: you can download your Rail & Fly ticket onto your mobile device or get a ticket from a DB vending machine. You are required to hold the valid DB train ticket when you board the train. To download your mobile ticket, go to www.accesrail.com/checkin and enter your name and flight number / reservation number. We recommend to print your mobile ticket just in case. Please note that if you choose to download Rail & Fly ticket on www.accesrail.com, the pickup option from a DB vending machine will be deactivated.
To obtain a valid train ticket from a DB vending machine you should insert your pick-up number into the machine, and you will get your ticket in exchange. You have received this number by email; if not, please contact Finnair. The train ticket fare is already included in the fare of your Finnair flight and is only valid in conjunction with your flight ticket. Train tickets are valid one day prior or on the day of departure/arrival. Make sure that DB long-distance ticket vending machines can be found at your departure station and that you arrive well in advance to obtain the train tickets.
Train tickets against these DB pick-up numbers can be obtained earliest within 3 days (72 hours) prior to departure / before onward journey begins. The same applies for the return journey (from the airport to your destination within Germany).
Please note that before you pick up your ticket, your itinerary shows fictitious train numbers (starting with 9B), departure points (QYG) and times for the train segment. This is not a valid ticket.
In case of rebooking before the train ticket is collected, a new DB pick-up number will be generated. You can get the new DB pick up number from the airline customer service.
In case of rebooking after the train ticket has been collected or downloaded, the train ticket must be changed at a DB Travel Center at the train station.
Passengers travelling in Business class, or who have the Economy Pro fare type on Finnair flights are entitled to travel in the 1st class compartment on board Deutsche Bahn.
The Basic Economy and Value Economy fare types entitle travel in the 2nd class compartment.
The train tickets are valid one day prior or on the day of departure/arrival. Contact a DB Travel Center or see www.bahn.de for the real departure time of train connections on the actual travel date.
For train segment seat reservation (for a fee), contact DB Travel Center or see www.bahn.de.
No. You must collect your own baggage when arriving by plane or train and bring it with you.
Make sure to arrive to the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled flight. If your train connection arrives later than 2 hours before the scheduled departure, Finnair is not liable for missed flight connection. If your train is late, make sure to get a delay certificate from the train conductor. The certificate must be presented to Finnair in case the delay causes you to miss your flight. In this case, Finnair will take care of rebooking your flight.
