Finnair uses Amadeus Issuance Limit – AIL to check for the document issuance for chargeable services. If the document is not issued within 72 hours from the time the flight segment is booked, but no later than 72 hours before the flight departure, the chargeable seats are cancelled. If either one of these limits if reached, AIL gives 2 hours for the document issuance before canceling the chargeable seats. At the time of EOT, AIL gives a warning message (shown in the PNR as OPW- and OPC-info), telling when the documents need to be issued by. In case you have a paid EMD for the seat and have made changes, please see instructions below for “Changes”.

    Conditions

The service is only available for Finnair flights

    • operated and marketed by AY
    • operated by Norra and marketed by AY with a “*” mark in front of thee the AY flight number

A paid seat request cannot be guaranteed, as it may need to be changed for operational, safety or security reasons, even after boarding the aircraft.

In case we have to change the customer's seat, we will look to seat him/her in a suitable alternative.

Seats are not transferable to any other passengers.

Passengers sitting on exit row seats must be at least 12 years old, speak and understand English or Finnish and they must be able to open the exit door if needed and assist the crew. It is not possible to use an extension belt on exit row seats.

    Changes

If the customer has reserved a paid seat and he/she changes the flight times or dates in accordance with fare rules, the seat can be changed.

When the routing remains the same and a seat with same value is booked:

    • Add earlier paid EMD manually to the new seat reservation with a cryptic entry FHD 105-800012456/E7/P1. E7 stands for SSR line number.
    • OPW and OPC warnings will disappear.
    • In reissue cases the EMD will be disassociated from the ticket and status is D. Activate the EMD that has been disassociated. Basic entry for re-association: EWA/ASC/E1-2/TKT105-2411111111/E1-2 (first E1-2 = coupon numbers of the EMD, latter E1-2 = coupon numbers of the ticket)

    Refund:

Select Your Seat refund conditions are independent of fare refund conditions. Paid seating will not be refunded if the customer cancels the flight, changes the routing, is involuntarily upgraded due to over-sales, or is not suitable to sit in the seat type selected (exit-row seat).

    Paid seating is non-refundable unless:

    • There is an aircraft change and Finnair is unable to seat the passenger in a suitable alternative seat.
    • There is a flight disruption causing the passenger to be moved to another flight and Finnair is unable to seat him/her in a suitable alternative seat.
    • Finnair Plus upgrade is used.
