Finnair booking engineEnjoy eternal spring on the islands of Madeira
Madeira, an autonomous region of Portugal, boasts warm weather and sunshine all year round and is known for its beautiful nature and colourful culture.
The archipelago is mountainous and the capital Funchal’s streets and neighbourhoods rise to 1,200 meters above the busy harbour area. On New Year’s Eve the city hosts the largest fireworks show in the world. Get to know the island by walking along the hundreds of routes that follow the irrigation channels or levadas – some of which are challenging even for more experienced hikers. Along the routes you can see laurisilva forests and catch glimpses of indigenous flowers and animals.
The archipelago is also a great place for surfing and diving, and it’s possible to spot whales and dolphins around the islands. A ferry will take you to the island of Porto Santo, which offers over nine kilometres of beach and a golf course.
