Visit Dublin, the city of villages

Discover Dublin, capital of Ireland and home to literary giants like Oscar Wilde and James Joyce. The city is a fun mix of Irish heritage and influences from around the world.

Nearly two million people live in the greater Dublin area, but the city centre itself is compact and easy to explore on foot. The city is filled with churches, cathedrals, museums and theatres and street views range from classic Georgian architecture to hypermodern landmarks. At 120 metres tall and made of stainless steel, the Spire of Dublin is a good focus-point for navigating around the city.

To start off a day in Dublin, try the traditional full Irish breakfast, complete with meat, eggs, vegetables and potatoes, fried in butter and served with bread and tea. Check out a local sport by going to a Gaelic football game at the Croke Park Stadium, or learn about the city’s most famous drink at the Guinness Storehouse – a pint is included in the ticket price. A visit to some local pubs is also a must while you’re in town.
