The birthplace of Aphrodite

The Mediterranean Sea shimmers and the hot sun shines in Cyprus, making the island and the charming coastal city Paphos a perfect destination for a summer escape combining the ancient and the modern.

Paphos and its surroundings have a multitude of beaches to choose from – a stroll along the coastal boardwalk brings you to Alykes and Lighthouse (Pharos) beaches. Anywhere along the coast near Cape Arnauti secluded slivers of sand can be found for a more private experience. A holiday in Paphos can also offer a cornucopia of ancient sites for the keen traveller. The Tomb of the Kings offers a glimpse into the customs of people living in the Hellenistic and Roman periods, and the Houses of Dionysos and Theseus (all inside the handily-designated Archaeological Park) are home to some of the most beautiful mosaics in the world. The city's own Medieval Fort sits guarding the entrance to the harbour and provides a perfect viewpoint over the busy goings-on of everyday life in Paphos.

Relax by the town harbour and enjoy some fresh-caught seafood or explore further into Kato Paphos for traditional Cypriot cuisine made from the produce of the land. Go on an evening walk to the Paphos Market to pick up some local handicrafts and refreshments. Western-style drinking establishments are found on Bar Street, though the vibe is not that of Paphos' wilder neighbour, Limassol.

You can reach Paphos with Finnair and the oneworld alliance members’ extensive route network.
