Entry requirements to the UK

The UK authorities have introduced requirements for customers arriving in the country.

Please note that travel restrictions are subject to change on a short notice. As a traveller you are always responsible for ensuring that you fulfill the requirements of your destination and possible transit country.

  • You are required to complete an online Passenger Locator Form (PLF) before travelling to the UK via this page. You can provide the information earliest 48 hours before your journey.
  • Please take with you a print or a screenshot of the PLF confirmation document, that you receive via email once you have completed the online PLF-form. You will be required to show the print/screenshot to the airline agent at the gate and to the authorities upon arrival. Please note that missing the document will result in denied boarding from the flight.
  • You are required to hold a negative coronavirus test result taken earliest 3 days before arriving in the UK. This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 11.
  • The following coronavirus tests are accepted:

    • PCR-test taken earliest 3 days before the flight’s departure

    • LAMP-test taken earliest 3 days before the flight’s departure

    • Antigen test taken earliest 3 days before the flight’s departure

  • The negative test result must be written in English, French or Spanish and must contain your full name (as in your travel document), date of birth, test result, test method, date and time of testing, and the party issuing the certificate (company name and contact details).
  • If you are travelling to London or Manchester, you are required to pre-purchase a post-arrival coronavirus PCR-test package from the UK government’s website and self-isolate for 10 days after you arrive in the UK. To be accepted on the flight to London or Manchester, your PLF needs to include the booking reference of your confirmed post-arrival test-package and the name of the medical facility. In addition, you need to have taken a coronavirus test earliest 3 days prior to travel. Information on possible work related exemptions to the pre-purchased test package due to your work can be found here. If you are exempted from pre-purchase test package due to your work, you must indicate this in your PLF.

  • If you are travelling to Edinburgh (Scotland), you are required to pre-purchase a mandatory hotel quarantine package from the UK government’s website, regardless of which countries you have visited in the last 10 days prior to travel. To be accepted on the flight to Edinburgh, your PLF needs to include the booking reference of your confirmed quarantine hotel reservation and the name of the hotel. . You can read more information about the quarantine hotels here and quarantine rules here. In addition, you need to have taken a coronavirus test earliest 3 days prior to travel.

Red category countries

If you have visited or transited via a red category country in the past 10 days, you may travel to the UK only if you are a British national, Irish national or you have a resident right in the UK.  If you do not meet the aforementioned nationality or residence criteria, you are not allowed to enter the UK and you can therefore not be accepted on a flight to the UK. The list of red category countries can be found here.

  • If you are entitled to enter the UK and you have indicated in your PLF that you have visited or transited via a red-country, you are required to pre-purchased a mandatory hotel quarantine package from the UK authorities’ website, to be accepted for travel. The booking reference for the confirmed quarantine hotel reservation must be indicated in your PLF in the “managed quarantine package reference number” - field.
  • Please note, that you can enter the UK only via one of the approved airports.
  • Transferring via the UK to a third country (except Ireland) is allowed provided you have a confirmed onward flight within 24h.
  • If you are travelling to London and you have visited or transited via a red-category country in the last 10 days, you are required to pre-purchase a mandatory hotel quarantine package from the UK government’s website (in this case you do not need to purchase the post-arrival test package, as it is included in the hotel quarantine package). To be accepted on the flight to London, you need to have included the booking reference of your confirmed quarantine hotel reservation and the name of the hotel in your PLF. You can read more information here. In addition, you need to have taken a coronavirus test earliest 3 days prior to travel.

  • You are not allowed to enter the UK via Manchester if you have visited or transited via a red-category country in the last 10 days. You can check the list of red-category-countries here.
