Finnair Cancellation Cover

Finnair Cancellation Cover allows you to cancel your flight and apply for a refund in case you cannot travel due to sudden sickness or accident to you or a close family member.

Cancellation Cover applies to the original flight fare and any additional travel extras provided by Finnair for those passengers that are not able to travel. If the sickness or accident occurs after the departure flight, the Cancellation Cover covers the price of the return flight or the equivalent amount of the total flight fare.

The imperative nature of the cancellation is always assessed based on medical reasons. Please note that you must provide a valid medical certificate along with the refund application form.

How to apply for a refund

1.

You must cancel the flight booking before the scheduled departure time of the first flight that will not be used. You can cancel your flight on the Finnair website or via Finnair customer care.

2.

You can apply for the refund by filling in the online refund application form on the Finnair website. You need to include a copy of a medical certificate indicating the sickness or accident preventing travelling and the duration of it. If the reason for cancellation is death, an official certificate or some other reliable clearance is required.

3.

If the refund claim is based on sickness, accident or death of a close family member who is not included in the flight booking, Finnair has the right to request evidence of the family connection.

4.

The refund claim must be sent within three (3) months from the original departure date for sickness or accident cases, and within six (6) months from the original departure date in case of death.

Finnair will handle the medical information related to Cancellation Cover with extra care and all information will be destroyed after the claims handling process has ended. For more information about handling personal information, please see Finnair’s privacy policy.
