Tiger breeders gently play with cubs at the world’s largest Siberian tiger breeding base in the northeast China. The Heilongjiang Siberian Tiger Park, tucked away in the forests at the foot of Mount Hufeng, was established in 1986 by the Chinese government to address the dwindling number of tigers over the past century. Since then, the number of tigers has grown from eight cats to a population of more than 1,000.
The park has also developed wilderness training to prepare the captive animals for survival when they are released into the wild.
