INFORMATION ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF CORONAVIRUS ON TRAVELLING

FINNAIR HOLIDAYS CANCELS TRIPS BETWEEN 13 MARCH–31 JULY

The coronavirus situation, travel restrictions caused by it and Finnair’s flight cancellations have a significant impact Finnair Holidays trips also between 1-31 July. Previously, Finnair Holidays has announced cancellations between 13 March–30 June and discontinued selling trips between 13 March–30 June.

We are now cancelling all Finnair Holidays trips departing between 1-31 July 2020.

Regular change and cancellation policies apply to trips departing on 1 August or later.

We are in contact directly with all customers whose trips are affected. The contacts occur in the order of travel dates and can take several days or even weeks. The bookings are cancelled automatically and instructions about refunds will be sent to the email address given in the booking.

There will be delays in refunds due to our customer service being congested in this current coronavirus situation. We kindly ask you to not send us multiple messages about the same booking because it will further overload our customer service. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this exceptional situation.

Finnair Holidays follows the coronavirus situation closely. We respond to all future changes as required to ensure the safety of our travelers and the success of their holidays.

FAQ 

Is my trip cancelled automatically? 

If your departure takes place between 13 March–31 July 2020, your booking is automatically cancelled and instructions about refunds are sent to the email address given in the booking. Please note that we manage the cancellations step by step, and this might take multiple days or even weeks.

Do I receive more than one message? 

We will send two emails about trip cancellations to the email address provided when booking. These emails are sent to those customers whose trips are cancelled within the time period. The first email is an automatic one that informs you about the cancellation. The second email will give further information about refunds. Please check your spam folder in case you haven’t gotten both emails.  

Will I get a refund? 

We cancel your reservation automatically and send you an email with instructions about refunds to the address provided in the booking. 

How and when is the money refunded? 

Cancellations and refunds will be processed in the order of departure and instructions are automatically emailed to the booker. We refund the costs automatically if you have paid with a credit card less than 60 days ago.  

Please note that there might be delays in refunds because our customer service is congested. We kindly ask you to not contact us several times about the same reservation because it will further overload our customer service.  

Will I get a full refund? 

If your original departure date was between 13 March–14 May, you will get a refund without a cancellation fee, if the trip is cancelled on 12 March 2020 or later.

If your original departure date is between 15 May–30 June, you will get a refund without a cancellation fee, if the trip is cancelled on 23 March 2020 or later.

If your original departure date is between 1-31 July, you will get a refund without a cancellation fee, if the trip is cancelled on 6 May 2020 or later.

The cancellation fee does not include the service and change fees or the credit card processing fees if such apply to your booking. You can claim compensation from your insurance company for these other possible expenses.

I’ve bought travel extras from Finnair. How are these compensated?  

If you bought a travel extra for your flight from Finnair and your trip is cancelled, you can apply for a refund from Finnair. More information: https://www.finnair.com/se-en/customer-care-and-contact-information/contact-forms/feedback-and-claims 

I just cancelled my trip with a cancellation fee, will it be refunded?  

If your original departure date was between 13 March–14 May, you will get a refund without a cancellation fee if your trips was cancelled on 12 March 2020 or later.

If your original departure date was between 15 May–30 June, you will get a refund without a cancellation fee if your trip was cancelled on 23 March 2020 or later.

If your original departure date was between 1-31 July, you will get a refund without a cancellation fee if your trip was cancelled on 6 May 2020 or later.

You don’t need to contact us separately about this.

Does the refund apply to previously canceled trips that would have occurred between 13 March–31 July 2020? 

If your original departure date is between 13 March–14 May 2020 and your cancellation was processed before 12 March 2020, change and cancellation policies according to the time of booking of the trip apply.

If your original departure date is between 15 May–30 June 2020 and your cancellation was processed before 23 March 2020, change and cancellation policies according to the time of booking of the trip apply.

If your original departure date is between 1-31 July 2020 and your cancellation was processed before 6 May 2020, change and cancellation policies according to the time of booking of the trip apply.

In the current coronavirus situation, many new travel restrictions as well as the changes announced by Finnair today to flights in the near future will have significant effects on Finnair Holidays trips.

We are cancelling all trips that have departure date latest on 14 May 2020. We will inform about the trips departing after 14 May by the end of March. Regular change and cancellation policies apply to trips departing on 15 May or later.

On Friday 13 March, we announced that all Finnair Holidays trips between 13 March-12 April 2020 have been cancelled.

I’ve just cancelled my trip with a cancellation fee. Will the fee be refunded? 

If you have cancelled your trip on 12 March 2020 or later, and your departure date is between 13 March–14 May 2020, you will get a refund. You do not need to contact us separately.  

What should I do if I’m on holiday with Finnair Holidays at the moment?  

These changes don’t apply to Finnair Holidays customers who are already in their destination. If you are on holiday now and there are changes in your return flight, you’ll be notified by Finnair or Finnair Holidays’ customer service.  

Why do you cancel more trips so soon after previous cancellations? 

After Finnair Holidays announced on Friday the cancellations of trips between 13 March-12 April, the coronavirus situation, travel advisories of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and new travel restrictions in multiple countries have changed during the weekend. We aim to anticipate and communicate the changes in trips to our customer as early as possible.
