Nice – a holiday with indulgence

The turquoise sea washing against the smooth pebbles on the shore beckons you for a swim. The most famous seaside promenade in the world, Promenade des Anglais, lined with palatial hotels and palm trees, runs along the seafront.
Few cities in the world have the beach and the activities surrounding it so centrally located. But this in Nice, where beach holidays as we know them first started.
Originally, beach holidays were taken on doctor’s orders. Convalescents from England arrived in the city in the 1800s to benefit from the healthy sea air of the Mediterranean. And it’s the sunbathing English tourists that gave the seaside promenade of Nice its name. Nice became a real hotspot of glamour tourism when Queen Victoria took a liking to the city. The nobility from all over Europe followed suit.
The best way to enjoy Nice is to taste the leisurely life of luxury. In the winter time, enjoy the fine cuisine of the best restaurants in the old town and go people watching on the seaside promenade. In the summer, swim in the turquoise waters of the French Riviera. In Nice, even sunbathing is considered culture.
