Safe travels with Finnair Holidays

The safety of Finnair Holidays travellers is our highest priority. In order for you as a customer to enjoy the trip and new experiences, we have gathered instructions on what to consider when planning a Finnair Holidays trip and when you are travelling. Please read our instructions for your and others’ safety already before your Finnair Holidays trip.

BEFORE YOU TRAVEL

Review the entry requirements of your destination well in advance prior to your trip.

For the success and safety of your trip, please note that restrictions and entry requirements in different countries may vary and change rapidly. Entry regulations are set by the local authorities of your destination and should be checked from the authorities.

Check the entry regulations for your destination either from the closest embassy (LINK) or from the website of Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (LINK). It is recommended to check the regulations well in advance prior to your trip. Entry may be conditional on, for example, a minimum number of days of stay in the country, a health certificate or the completion of an entry form well in advance before the start of the trip.

AT THE AIRPORT

Both Finnish and international airports pay special attention to cleaning, hand hygiene and keeping distance. Attention stickers have been installed on the floors of several airports to indicate proper distances. Follow the instructions given and possibly announced at airports.

At Helsinki Airport, the service desks have plastic covers, and the personnel wears face masks. Make sure that you have enough face masks with you as they are recommended to be used both at Helsinki Airport and international airports. Hand disinfectant is available at the check-in and by the gates from where the flights depart. It is recommended to avoid crowds by the check-in machines and desks, therefore, please check-in in advance online or in Finnair Mobile App. If you have a bus transfer between the gate and the plane, they are only half-filled when you board the plane.

ONBOARD

Finnair Holidays trips are flown with Finnair’s direct flights or in collaboration with oneworld airlines. The flights follow the safety guidelines of each airline.

According to the current information, the risk of catching an infectious disease in an aircraft is low. To protect the health of passengers and crew, Finnair has introduced new safety measures. Cleaning in aircraft is intensified, and wet wipes are available onboard for travellers to wipe the surfaces, for example, before eating. Additionally, all passengers over 7 years old and the crew on board must wear a face mask that covers nose and mouth during the whole Finnair flight. The mask used onboard can be one bought from a pharmacy or a self-made fabric mask. Most importantly, the nose and mouth should be covered to prevent the spread of droplets when wearing a mask. Mouth and nose must be covered latest at the time of boarding, and you can take the mask off when eating and drinking.

Please remember that safety measures can differ between different airlines, but it is recommended to carry masks with you for every flight.

ACCOMMODATION

Every hotel follows the instructions provided by the authorities, and we have done our most worldwide to protect the safety of our customers and personnel. Please follow the instructions and rules given by the hotel to guarantee safety.

Hotels have among other measures intensified cleaning, disinfection and ventilation in common spaces. The equipment of the hotel and the rooms may have changed in order to protect your health and maintain a high level of hygiene, for example by removing daily newspapers. In addition, the most used items such as door handles, light switches and remote controls are disinfected regularly. Special attention is also paid to the hygiene of hotel staff, and staff’s temperatures may be measured daily.

There might also be changes in hotel services, for example, cancelled events at the hotel, in which hotel customers would be in close contact with each other. In hotels that offer restaurant services, for example, there may have been changes in the way food is served in buffets. The dishes are either served to the tables or arranged in some other way.

The hotels follow closely and regularly the guidelines and regulations of each country so that the service and hotel operations can be adapted if necessary. Even if the hotel has not been regulated by a national authority, new ways of working can still be introduced in the hotel to protect its customers and staff, whose health and safety is highly prioritised. If we receive information before your trip that there are significant changes in the services of the hotel you have booked, for example, some of the services of the hotel have been closed, we will inform you separately.

SERVICES AT THE DESTINATION

Please note that different countries and destinations have taken different measures, habits and restrictions. By regulating and restricting, the health and safety of locals and tourists is secured. Simultaneously, an enjoyable and successful trip is ensured for travellers. For example, restrictions might include changes in opening hours at restaurants and other services, visitor limits at sights, or events might be cancelled due to the prohibition of assembly. At beach holiday destinations, safe distances and number of visitors have been considered so that everyone can enjoy their stay safely. Please note that most hotels, restaurants and other services in the destination prefer card payments to cash, and some have chosen to only accept cards as payment method.

It is recommended to take care of hand hygiene and always carry hand disinfectant and face masks with you. That way, you can protect yourself when you are close to crowds or for example, in public transportation. Please make sure to keep distance to others whenever possible and wear face masks when a safe distance isn’t possible.

REMEMBER TRAVEL INSURANCE

Get travel insurance prior to your trip and check the compensation conditions of the insurance. The conditions differ depending on the issuer and we recommend you check them well in advance before your travel. It is recommended that the travel insurance is valid as soon as you have made your booking, and it is always important to make sure that the travel insurance is valid so that it covers illnesses prior to and during the trip.

How is safe distance kept onboard the aircraft?

We have new practices for boarding so that safe distances are secured and contacts between customers are minimised. We start boarding from the end of the aircraft. Therefore, Priority boarding isn’t available until further notice for passengers with tier benefits or who travel in Business Class. If there is space onboard, customers will sit as far from each other as possible and the seating order is checked at the gate.
