Holiday in Zurich – a city of surprisingly good fun

You need to climb 187 steps to get to the top of Zurich. The views from one of Grossmünster’s twin towers open over the entire city: the mediaeval centre that grew around the river Limmat, the long and narrow Lake Zurich and the snowcapped Alps. Few cities are as beautifully located as Zurich.
Zurich is mainly known for its banks, but the shiny skyscrapers usually associated with banking capitals are conspicuously absent in Zurich. The cityscape is dominated by church towers and cute mediaeval houses.
The largest city in Switzerland is a surprise. Wealth has not made it dull. There are more bars and clubs per capita in Zurich than any other city in Europe. New, innovative residential districts and art centres have been built on former industrial sites. Art galleries thrive. The mountains invite hikers.
The idyllic and vibrant Zurich is a surprisingly welcoming destination for a city break.
