Nowadays, Santorini is a holiday destination oozing with charm, its villages and beaches inviting holiday makers to leave their cares behind.

Good to know about Santorini

Santorini has no shortage of great restaurants with amazing views, but also high prices. If you are looking for something more authentic, head for the village of Firostefani. The Aktaion tavern was opened 90 years ago. The restaurant offers traditional Greek and Mediterranean fare at a reasonable price.

Hills, stairs and high places, Santorini is full of them. Why not jump on a cable car that takes you from the port on top of the cliffs to admire the volcanic views from high up. The height might make you dizzy, but it’s worth it. Going down is even better, if possible!

Wines grown in the volcanic soil of Santorini are full of personality and serve well as high-quality souvenirs. The Iama wine store sells a wide selection of Greek wines and, of course, local specialities. The pride of the island is the Assyrtiko grape which is used for making both dry wines and sweet desert wines.
