Holiday in Pisa – leaning towards Tuscany

Italy

Created by Mondo for Finnair

Everyone knows why people go to Pisa. But few are aware of all the other things Pisa has to offer, apart from the famous leaning tower. The best thing is to do like other travellers don’t do. Tourists typically come to Pisa for a day trip, but those in the know make Pisa their base from which to explore the rest of Tuscany.

Take a train to Florence or rent a car and drive through the vineyards and undulating hills of Chianti to Siena. Lucca, a city with magnificent fortresses, is only a half an hour away by car.

Pisa has a lot to offer for the culture holiday maker. The small town comes into its own when explored at your own pace after the day trippers have gone for the day. Everything is within walking distance. In addition to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, you will have time to admire the sights on Piazza del Miracoli: the handsome cathedral, baptistery and Camposanto, the burial ground for a number of notable figures of Pisa.

And what about that famous tower? The white tower that we see in pictures as being worryingly tilted looks more incredible than you would expect.
