Korčula – a holiday in the hidden gem of Croatia

When the ferry approaches the old town of Korčula, you cannot at first believe your eyes. Is this the right place, or have I taken the wrong ship?
As the ferry docks in the port of Korčula, the white city sheltered by sturdy towers and surrounded by the glistening blue sea rises in front of you. The orange roofs gleam under the sun.
For a second, you might think you have arrived in the much more famous Dubrovnik, not Korčula. That’s how similar the two are. The biggest difference is that the narrow alleys in the old town of Korčula are still fairly free of travellers. Large groups of tourists are yet to discover the place.
If you fancy a swim, you can dip in from the small beach in the middle of the town. The countryside beyond the town awaits with its vineyards, olive groves and coves with turquoise sea. A holiday in Korčula offers an authentic small-town experience in a beautiful landscape and pleasant climate.
It is a miracle how the amazing Korčula has managed to stay a secret.
