Key West – a holiday in Florida’s bohemian island paradise
USA
Created by Mondo for Finnair
Quaint old wooden houses, bohemian and outgoing locals and sandy beaches framed by palm trees. And perhaps the world most famous sunsets. Located on the southern tip of Florida, the island of Key West has a world of its own where the holiday never ends.
Wonderful and unusual are the two adjectives that best describe Key West. Hemingway fell in love with the tropical Key West and spent much of the 1930s on the island, writing, fishing and hanging out at the bars. Since then, the island has attracted a bohemian crowd, who live free from everyday norms.
The old, Victorian wooden houses in the centre of Key West are typically surrounded by a beautiful verandah. Painted in pastel colours, they house intimate galleries, shops and restaurants. In the evening, Mallory Square is place where people gather for the Sunset Celebration, and the bars along the main street Duval Street are filled with revellers.
Key West is one of the most unique destinations in the US and a perfect place for a relaxed mini holiday in the sun.
