Amsterdam – a holiday in the city favoured by cyclists

There is only one right way to explore the quaint little streets of Amsterdam: the bicycle. Bicycles are the chosen mode of transport for everyone from suited and booted corporate women to stay-at-home dads taking their kids around. And, as there are no hills in the city, cycling isn’t even too much hard work.
The ease of cycling everywhere makes Amsterdam one of the most cheerful places to visit in the world. Distances are not an issue as you whiz through the city on your two wheels: from the Bohemian Jordaan along the pretty rings of canals to the hip De Pijp, across the Amstel river to the multicultural Amsterdam-Oost and on to the old eastern docklands Amsterdam and the islands of KNSM, Java and Borneo, known for their modern architecture.
Cycling is easy in Amsterdam thanks to the plentiful cycling lanes and the number of bike rental shops throughout the city. Besides seeing the sights, the other plus of cycling is that pedalling away almost has you feeling like a local!
