Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to travel now?
We follow carefully both Finnish and foreign authorities’ instructions and base our decisions on carrying out trips on that information. If the entry regulations change significantly for passengers travelling from Finland, for example, a requirement for quarantine at arrival or restrictions that affect your trip significantly, your trip will be cancelled by Finnair Holidays without a fee. Safe travelling is our highest priority and we travel only when it is safe.
Can you travel as usual at the destination?
Different countries have taken various measures and restrictions that secure the health and safety of the local people and travellers. For example, restrictions might include changes in opening hours at restaurants and other services, visitor limits at sights, or events might be cancelled due to the prohibition of assembly. At beach holiday destinations, safe distances and number of visitors have been considered so that everyone can enjoy their stay safely. Please note that most hotels, restaurants and other services in the destination prefer card payments to cash, and some have chosen to only accept cards as payment method.
How can I best prepare for the holiday?
It is recommended to take care of hand hygiene and always carry hand disinfectant and face masks with you. That way, you can protect yourself when you are close to crowds or for example, in public transportation. Please make sure to keep distance to others whenever possible and wear face masks when a safe distance isn’t possible. Please follow the instructions and regulations of the authorities of your destination.
Is it possible that I must stay in quarantine?
If the entry regulations change significantly for passengers travelling from Finland, for example, a requirement for quarantine at arrival or restrictions that affect your trip significantly, your trip will be cancelled by Finnair Holidays without a fee.
What kind of safety measures have you taken on board?
Finnair Holidays trips are flown with Finnair’s flights or in collaboration with Finnair’s partner airlines. The flights follow the safety guidelines of each airline. Most flights are Finnair’s direct flights. Cleaning in aircraft is intensified, and wet wipes are available onboard for travellers to wipe the surfaces, for example, before eating. Additionally, all passengers over 7 years old and the crew on board must wear a face mask that covers nose and mouth during the whole Finnair flight. You can take off the mask when eating or drinking.
How have hotels taken hygiene into consideration?
Hotels have among other measures intensified cleaning, disinfection and ventilation in common spaces. The equipment of the hotel and the rooms may have changed in order to protect your health and maintain a high level of hygiene, for example by removing daily newspapers. In addition, the most used items such as door handles, light switches and remote controls are disinfected regularly. Special attention is also paid to the hygiene of hotel staff, and staff’s temperatures may be measured daily.
There might also be changes in hotel services, for example, cancelled events at the hotel, in which hotel customers would be in close contact with each other. Hotels that offer restaurant services, for example, there may have been changes in the way food is served in buffets. The dishes are either served to the tables or arranged in some other way.
How is safe distance kept onboard the aircraft?
We have new practices for boarding so that safe distances are secured and contacts between customers are minimised. We start boarding from the end of the aircraft. Therefore, Priority boarding isn’t available until further notice for passengers with tier benefits or who travel in Business Class. If there is space onboard, customers will sit as far from each other as possible and the seating order is checked at the gate.
