Entry requirements to Turkey

The Turkish authorities have introduced requirements for customers arriving in or transiting via Turkey.

Please note that travel restrictions are subject to change on a short notice. As a traveler you are always responsible for ensuring that you fulfill the requirements of your destination and possible transit country.

Effective 29 December 2020 – 30 May 2021, the following entry requirements apply:

  • You must hold an original medical certificate of a negative coronavirus PCR test result in English issued earliest 72 hours before departure.
    • The test result cannot be in SMS-format or a print-out from your personal health record site (e.g. Omakanta)
    • The certificate must be issued by a medical facility or a laboratory.
    • The certificate must be presented to the airline ground crew at your departure gate and to the authorities at your destination.
  • The pre-travel PCR-test requirement does not apply:
    • If you are transiting to a third country and you have a confirmed onward flight and remain in the transit area of the airport. However, if you have started your travel from Brazil, Denmark, South Africa or the UK, you must hold a negative PCR-test result taken within 72 hours of travel to Turkey.
    • If you are a seaman travelling on duty.
    • For children below 6 years old.
  • If you have been in or transited through Brazil, Denmark, South Africa or the UK within 10 days before you travel to Turkey, you are allowed to enter Turkey, when arriving via other countries, provided the following entry requirements are fulfilled:
    • You must hold a certificate of a negative PCR-test taken earliest 72 hours before travel to Turkey.
    • Children below 6 years old are exempted from the PCR-test.
    • You are required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival at a facility assigned by the Turkish authorities.
    • You are required to take a second PCR test on day 10 of the quarantine period. If the second test is negative, you may end the quarantine.
  • You must complete an electronic Passenger locator form (PLF) earliest 72 hours before departure.
    • You can fill in the PLF form here.
    • You need to download the approved form on your electronic device/mobile phone or print it as a paper copy before your travel.
    • You will receive a HES code, which you can use for travel and accommodation purposes in Turkey.
    • If you are not able to fill in the Passenger locator form online, the cabin crew can hand out a paper copy of the form to you during the flight. Your entry into the country may however be delayed without a completed electronic form.
  • You are subject to medical screening on arrival, including a temperature scan and if you show any symptoms, you will need to be tested for coronavirus.
  • You will need to self-isolate for 14 days after the arrival.
  • You are subject to a 14-day quarantine at a government facility if you have visited Brazil, Denmark, South Africa or the UK in the past 10 days.
  • You are required to wear a facial mask at all times in the airport terminal in Turkey.
