Finnair and Trenitalia

We've partnered up with Trenitalia to offer you comfortable and cost-effective train travel to and from your flight – all in one booking. All you need to do is book your Finnair flight ticket together with a Trenitalia rail sector to connect to and from the airport by train throughout Italy.

Book your flight and rail connection online and enjoy your stress-free journey connecting to over 25 stations across Italy from Rome Fiumicino, including Florence and Naples.

All train journeys will have a flight number starting with 9B and a 4-digit number ranging from 7300 to 7999.

Trenitalia offers excellent service throughout Italy on high-speed trains: the Frecciarossa and the Frecciargento. There is Wi-Fi available on board with access to free movies, music, and news through the FREECE portal on board. Food services, including a bar or bistro, will be available, with a Welcome Drink for customers in Premium Class.

How to get the deal?

  1. To book your Finnair flight and Trenitalia train tickets together, go to flight search on Finnair.com or the Finnair app and select your preferred Italian destination or departure city. If there is a train journey covering that destination, it will be shown in the results the same way as if it was a connecting flight, with a note advising about the rail trip.
  2. Complete check-in and access your Trenitalia train ticket from the AccesRail Check-in page. Before your trip, print out your train ticket at home or save it as a mobile ticket on your mobile device.
  3. After your flight, head to the train station and hop on your train. Always keep your train ticket with you.
  4. For your return, we recommend selecting a connecting train that arrives at least two hours before your scheduled flight departure time.

Airport transfers

Bookings from Fiumicino Airport to destinations other than the destinations with direct connection (first table above) will require a change of train in Rome Termini.

When booking the connecting service, you will simultaneously book the Leonardo Express service between Rome Fiumicino Airport and Rome Termini. You will receive two tickets, one for the Leonardo service and one for the high-speed service out of Roma Termini.

How to get the Leonardo Express train at Fiumicino Airport:

  • The Leonardo Express Airport Train is the fastest and most reliable way to get to Rome Termini Station. The train station is a 5-10-minute walk from each terminal and is clearly marked with blue overhead signs of a train.
  • The Home printed ticket is already validated and is valid 24 hours from the departure time written on the ticket.
  • Use the barcode on the Leonardo Express ticket to access the platform at Fiumicino Airport.
  • Leonardo Express departs every 15 minutes with a journey time of 32 minutes.
  • From the Fiumicino Airport, the first train departs at 6:23 and the last one at 23:23.

Note. Please remember to leave enough time to connect to your flight or train departure.

Earliest 72 hours before train departure, you will need to check in at AccesRail with your full name and either a PNR Locator or e-ticket number.

You can then choose one of the below options to get your train boarding pass, which will already include your train seat reservation:

  • Print your travel document.
  • Download it on your mobile device.

The issued travel documents for a direct service will include one Trenitalia travel document. For connecting services (Leonardo Express), a second ticket is issued for that specific service. The Leonardo Express Ticket is valid 24 hours from booked departure time.

The train ticket fare is already included in the fare of your Finnair flight and is only valid in conjunction with your flight ticket.

Please contact Finnair customer care via chat or phone if you need to rebook your flight.

The class you travel in depends on the train type, your ticket type and travel class on the Finnair flight. Check the tables below to see your class eligibility on Trenitalia trains.
