What do I need to consider when travelling with some fragile item, e.g. a painting?

Depending on the size of the item, it is carried either in the cabin or in the hold of the aircraft. Please check the size limitations of carry-on baggage. If you want to take your fragile item in the cabin but it exceeds the dimensions or the weight of normal carry-on baggage, you need to purchase an extra seat for it. Please contact us by chat or phone as extra seats cannot be booked online.

Items up to 23 kg and external dimensions (length + width + height) max. 158 cm can be carried as checked baggage in the hold of the aircraft. An extra bag charge applies if you exceed your baggage allowance.

If the fragile item is carried in the hold of the aircraft, please make sure to pack it so that it resists the mechanical handling of baggage.
