Feast with a view

Welcome to our kitchen – enjoy the scenery! We dare say that not many restaurants can offer the kind of views we can. Our international award-winning catering does not hide its light under a bushel, either: our passengers arrive at their destination with a full stomach and a smile on their face.

Let's take a look into the past. What was the menu like on our first flights?

From dreams to feasts

Finnair's first stewardesses boarded the planes in 1947. Finland was suffering post-war hardship and, consequently, the menu consisted of simply broth, meat pie, and tea. On the Helsinki-Stockholm route, however, passengers were treated to Swedish cakes.

During training, stewardesses could only dream of an in-flight sandwich and coffee service. These dreams became reality in no time. In the 1950s and 1960s, hot meals were delivered from the airport kitchen for the passengers to enjoy, and modern ovens kept the meals warm and tasty until it was time to serve them.

These days, first-class chefs and a dedicated committee ensure that all the food you are served is top class. Their experienced taste buds evaluate each in-flight meal served on Finnair's planes. Colorful tastes from around the world, refined wines, and heavenly views. Could you ask more of a kitchen?
