If you want to visit other popular destinations on Portugal's southern coast, such as Albufeira, Lagos, and Portimão, the Algarve region has a well-functioning public transport system covering many cities and destinations. You can hop on a bus or train from Faro to Albufeira, Lagos, and Portimão. You can also take a taxi or Uber if you want a more comfortable and faster way to move from Faro to other cities in the Algarve.
Faro is also the gateway to the Algarve's magnificent archipelago and provides a convenient base for unforgettable island excursions.
Faro International Airport (FAO)
- The airport is located 7km west of the city centre.
- You can easily reach the city centre from the airport in 25 minutes by bus or 15 minutes by car.
- Always remember to check your airline's departure terminal and check-in times.
- From Faro Airport, you can travel to the nearby cities of Albufeira, Portimão, and Lagos by bus or car in 35min–1h.
