Discover enchanting Venice with our seasonal route
The Renaissance city of Venice is one of the most enchanting cities in the world. What could be more romantic than hiring a gondola for a ride through the maze of its narrow channels? Leisurely strolls on its small cobblestone alleys and ornate stone arch bridges have the ingredients for a perfect holiday.
Venice consists of 118 islands, best viewed from the motorised Vaporetto waterbuses which run on regular routes between the islands. San Marco is probably the best-known Venetian island, the lively principal square of which is home to the Basilica of San Marco and the Doge’s palace. The Rialto Bridge, a symbol of Venice that was built in the 16th century, takes you from the square over the Grand Canal. On the other side of the canal, you will find cosy restaurants, small boutiques and the Rialto markets which offer not only a magnificent show but also some tasty Italian treats. Other famous islands include Murano, which is renowned for its glassmaking tradition, Burano known for its lacework and Lido, famed for its sandy beaches.
