What do I need to do if my bag has not arrived on the same flight?
If your baggage is lost you have to complete a Property Irregularity Report at the Arrival Services in the Baggage Claim area after arrival. Reports about lost or damaged baggage destined for Helsinki are also accepted by phone to RTG Ground Handling at 07:00-21:00, tel. +358 30 624 4160, or by e-mail. The delivery of any item of delayed baggage can be monitored on the WorldTracer system. Enquiries about delayed baggage should be directed to the local arrival service. The contact information is on the Property Irregularity Report, PIR.
What will be reimbursed if my bag is delayed?
If you are at another destination than your place of residence and you have to purchase necessary items during the delay of your baggage, you may apply for reimbursement for such essential items as clothes and toiletries. A written claim should be sent within 21 days of delivery of the delayed baggage. Please fill in the feedback form.
What do I need to do if my bag is not found?
If your bag does not arrive within 72 hours, we need more specific information to continue the search. You can give the information by filling in the Baggage Tracing form and sending it to RTG Ground Handling.
If your baggage has not been found within 21 days, you can submit a claim for lost baggage either to the airline by filling in the feedback form or by contacting your insurance company.
What do I need to do if my bag is damaged?
If your bag is damaged, you need to complete a damaged baggage report at the Arrival Services in the Baggage Claim area. Reports about damaged baggage destined for Helsinki are also accepted by phone to RTG Ground Handling at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport at 07:00-21:00, tel. +358 30 624 4160, or by e-mail.
You will need to submit a written report to Finnair about the damage within 7 days from receipt of the baggage by filling in the feedback form. Claims are handled by the Customer Relations department.
What restrictions are there on the carrying of dangerous materials?
Information about materials which are prohibited (for example explosives) and restricted (for example matches and hair spray) on flights as well as information about baggage that requires special handling (for example weapons) can be found under Dangerous materials.
How are children’s pushchairs transported?
At check-in at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport you can obtain protective plastic, which is intended for the packing and protection of children’s pushchairs and other, larger items of baggage. Pushchairs should be left at check-in. At Helsinki-Vantaa Airport there are pushchairs to borrow and they can be used all the way to the departure gate. An infant (under 2 years of age), who does not have a reserved seat onboard the aircraft, may have 10 kg or 22 lb. of checked baggage plus a pushchair. A child with an own reserved seat may have the same amount of baggage as an adult in the same travel class. See also pages under Baggage.
Do animals travel in the cabin or in the hold?
If a pet (a dog, cat or rodent) plus its transportation box weighs 8 kg or 18 lb. or less, it can be transported on scheduled flights with the passenger in the cabin, except in Business Class on the Boeing MD-11, Airbus A340-300 and A330-300, where no bags are allowed under the lie-flat seats. Animals over 8 kg or 18 lb. are always carried in the hold, as are animals travelling alone as cargo and animals travelling on Leisure flights. Only a limited number of animal are allowed in the cabin and in the hold of the aircraft.
Finnair does not transport pets as cargo within Finland, only in the cabin or in the hold of the aircraft when accompanying a passenger on the same flight. To some countries, such as Great Britain, Ireland, Hong Kong and Australia, pets are allowed only as cargo due to local restrictions. See also Pets.

The price of transporting an animal depends on the route and the weight of the animal. What vaccinations does an animal need?
The embassy of the country in question will know about the necessary vaccinations. Information about vaccinations for animals imported into Finland can be obtained from the Finnish Food Safety Authority.
Other guidelines about animal transportation
An advance booking is always required when transporting an animal. The animal can be booked on the same flight as the passenger by calling Finnair Customer Care Center, tel. +358 600 140 140 (3.12 euros/answered call + local network charge) and an animal being transported as cargo can be booked through the Finnair Cargo telephone service in Finland, tel.+358 9 818 501. As only a limited amount of pets are allowed on the same flight, it is advisable to reserve space for the animal when you book your own flight.
