Cabin
Passenger instructions
- Smoking is not allowed anywhere onboard, and the lavatories are equipped with smoke detectors.
- Place your carry-on items under the seat in front of you or in the overhead lockers.
- Do not place any items on the floor if you are sitting in an exit row or the first row of seats; baggage is also not allowed on the floor space of the Business Class lie-flat seats.
Onboard safety instructions
There is an aircraft safety instruction card in every seat pocket and it is recommended that you familiarise yourself with the instructions at the beginning of the flight. An airsickness bag is also available in the seat pocket.
Personal controls
Every passenger has a personal reading light and ventilation that can be adjusted, using the controls above each seat. There is also a button for calling the cabin crew. On the Boeing MD-11, Airbus A340-300 and A330-300 aircraft these functions are located in the armrest of the seat.
Lavatories
The Economy Class lavatories are located in the rear section of the aircraft. There is a baby changing table in at least one lavatory on each aircraft type.
Lighting onboard
The cabin lights are dimmed for safety reasons during takeoff and landing, so that the light level is not significantly brighter inside the cabin than outside. The lights are switched on again once the fasten seatbelts sign has been turned off. Passengers are allowed to use the reading light throughout the flight. The cabin must not be completely dark at any time. The general lighting is adjusted to suit the conditions and light level outside the aircraft.
Blankets and pillows
On intercontinental flights, there are pillows and blankets in the overhead lockers, in Economy Class, for extra warmth and comfort. On European and domestic flights, a few pillows and blankets are available.
Business Class
The Business Class section located in the forward section of wide-bodied aircraft is equipped with seats wider than those in Economy Class and has its own lavatories and a wardrobe for overcoats. The user instructions for the lie-flat seats of the Boeing MD-11, Airbus A340-300 and A330-300 aircraft are provided in the Finnair Entertainment brochure. On intercontinental flights the pillows and blankets are laid out on the seats.
Medical kit
The cabin is equipped with a medical kit with plasters, nasal drops, nappies and non-prescription pain medication. Contact the cabin crew if you need any of these.
