Sports equipment

Passengers should inform Finnair about special items of baggage when booking their flight, so that we can confirm they can be taken along. Sports equipment is considered special baggage and certain regulations and restrictions apply. Skis and snowboards may normally be taken along without prior notification. The excess-baggage rates for special baggage are usually higher than for regular baggage. This is because the loading and handling of special baggage always requires careful planning. In addition, special baggage takes up a lot of space in the hold of the aircraft, leaving less space available for other baggage.
