Online check-in

Check in online and avoid the queues. Online check-in is available to all passengers and opens 36 hours before your flight departs. The service is available 24 hours a day, wherever you are: at home on your sofa, in a hotel, at the office or in an internet cafe at your destination.

Which flights does the service apply to?

  • All scheduled Finnair and Finncomm Airlines flights departing from Finland and from most destinations abroad - also when the journey includes a connecting flight. So far check-in needs to be completed at the airport of the following destinations: Bergen, Ekaterinburg, Geneva, Kiev, Ljubljana, Moskow, Pisa and St. Petersburg.
  • Also applies to flights that include connecting flights operated by Finnair or other airlines.
Please note! This service does not apply to code-share flights operated by Finnair’s partner airlines or Finnair Leisure flights.

Documents required at the airport

At the Finnair service desks in the airport, you will need a passport or other valid travel document required for travel to your destination in addition to the ticket or e-ticket ID (credit card or identity card).

In addition to these, you will need at least one of the following to confirm your online check-in: text message confirmation; a printed boarding pass that you have printed out yourself or which has been printed at the check-in desk; or the e-ticket travel itinerary/receipt. At some airports the authorities require that you have a boarding pass printed out at the check-in desk. You will be notified about the rules concerning your flight when you check in online.

Baggage

If you only have carry-on baggage, most airports will allow you to go directly to the security check and then to your gate. You can leave your checked baggage at the Baggage Drop desk within the normal check-in times.
