Freshening up

You don’t need to leave a long flight feeling tired and spent. Here you will discover how Finnair looks after your comfort on both short and long flights.

Business Class

In Business Class on intercontinental flights you have a personal space in which to relax and rest during the flight, thanks to the larger seats and greater legroom. On these long flights, all passengers have their own blanket, pillow and a blanket cover and pillowcase set. In Business Class on European flights, there are a few blankets and pillows available.

Adjusting the Boeing MD-11, Airbus A340-300 and A330-300 aircraft lie-flat seats is explained in the Finnair Entertainment brochure located in the seat pocket. On the Boeing MD-11 aircraft a separate foot stool is available on request from the crew for tall persons to rest their feet on.

On intercontinental flights the crew distributes a bottle of fresh spring water and an amenity kit, which includes for example a toothbrush, ear plugs, eye shades, a pair of socks and some cosmetic products to each passenger at the beginning of the flight. On flights to and from Japan and South Korea, a pair of travel slippers is handed out to each passenger.

The lavatory is equipped with a moisturiser, shaving items and terry cloths for makeup removal.

Exercise can freshen you up on long flights

The Asahi inflight exercise programme is available to all passengers, on all intercontinental flights and most European flights. On the European Airbus flights, Asahi movements are displayed on the video screens during the flights to Finland. During intercontinental flights, exercises are shown between programmes; on the Airbus A340-300 and A330-300 aircraft you can select the exercise programme in the personal entertainment system. The Asahi technique was developed in Finland and is based on Asian exercises that benefit health.

You can also print out these exercise instructions and bring them along on the flight. A few simple stretching movements are explained in the "Blue Wings" magazine located in the seat pocket.

  • During long flights you should stand up and stretch your legs by walking around approximately every hour. Long periods of immobility may cause circulation problems especially in pregnant women and passengers suffering from varicose veins and blood-clotting disorders.
  • Wear loose, non-constrictive clothing on long flights.
  • Compression socks improve circulation in your legs and make you more comfortable during long flights.
  • Make sure to drink enough fluid. A sufficient amount is 0.5–1 litre of water or juice per hour.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol as it dehydrates you even more.
