Carry-on baggage

You can take your carry-on baggage into the cabin with you; therefore, you may want to include items you'd like to have access to during the flight. Storage space in the cabin of the aircraft is limited, however, and the amount of carry-on baggage must be restricted in order to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.

Information regarding carry-on baggage

  • All carry-on baggage must be suitable for stowing in the overhead lockers, clothes closets or under the seat in front of you. Passengers seated at the emergency exits, in the first row and in the lie-flat seats in Business Class, must stow their carry-on baggage in the overhead lockers.
  • Due to lack of space, Finnair may have to further restrict the carry-on baggage allowance.
  • We ask that you stow large, heavy bags under the seat in front of you, leaving room in the overhead lockers for coats and to prevent the coats from getting dirty.
  • In addition to the allowances listed below, passengers may in all classes carry onboard a small handbag, a small camera or binoculars, baby food, reading material, an overcoat and, if required, a cane or mobility aid, such as elbow crutches.
  • Medicines, money, important documents, perishable or fragile products or other valuables should be included in carry-on baggage and not in baggage carried in the hold of the aircraft. Customers are responsible for storing and carrying their medications for the duration of the flight.
  • It is also advisable to carry electronic equipment in your hand baggage. For large musical instruments, such as cellos, space in the cabin must be reserved in advance through Finnair or your travel agent.
