Peace of mind with the Select Your Seat service
Add some peace of mind to your flight by selecting your preferred seat in advance. With Finnair’s Select Your Seat service, you can reserve an Economy Class seat for a scheduled flight. On long-haul flights to Asia and North America you can add even more comfort to you flight by selecting a seat on the exit- or front row.
To reserve your seat in advance, enter the service via the My booking section on our website. Please note that you have to have a Finnair flight ticket for a flight operated by Finnair in order to use the Select Your Seat service.

If you’re a Finnair Plus Platinum or Gold member or a oneworld Emerald or Sapphire member, you can use the service free of charge. If you’re a Finnair Plus Silver member, you get a 50% discount (exluding exit row seats).
If you haven’t reserved a seat in advance, you can choose your seat at check-in from those that are still available. Choosing your seat at check-in is free of charge. Online check-in opens 36 hours before departure.
Terms and conditions:
You can select a seat via the Select Your Seat service free of charge in the following cases:
- You’re travelling in Finnair Business Class.
- The booking class in your ticket is Y, B, H, G, A or X.
- You’re an unaccompanied minor, travelling in a group (in a booking class G or A), or have special needs, for example a wheelchair (in this case, you can reserve your seat in advance only by telephone).
- You’re a Finnair Plus Platinum or Gold member, or a oneworld Emerald or Sapphire member.
- You’re travelling to or from a Finnair destination in Japan before 1 November 2012 (excluding exit row seats). From 1 November 2012 onwards the service will remain free of charge for the following booking classes on routes to and from Japan: Y, B, H, K, M, P, T L, V, S, N and X.
The fee is non-refundable if you cancel the flight, are involuntarily upgraded, or in case you are not suitable to sit in the seat type selected.
The fee may be refunded if you are voluntarily upgraded or if you cannot be seated in the reserved seat or in a suitable alternative seat due to Finnair.
Changes of dates are possible according to the terms and conditions of your ticket.
If you have reserved a paid seat and you change your flight times in accordance with your fare rules, you need to reserve your paid seat again for the new flight. You may then apply for a refund of the costs of the seat reservation on the original flight.
The fee must be paid with a credit card.
The Select Your Seat service is only available for flights operated by Finnair.
